THREE DISC BOX SET FEATURING RARE BROADCAST RECORDINGS FROM THE 1970s & 1980s This triple disc collector s box set features rare broadcast recordings by Neil Young, originally transmitted from live shows the great man performed in the 1970s and 1980s; his glory years if you will. Disc One includes two such superb performances : the first a short set Neil played alongside Bob Dylan and members of The Band at the San Francisco SNACK Benefit concert in 1975, and secondly his legendary acoustic set from the late show he gave at Boston s Music Hall in November 1976. Disc Two features Young s marvellous appearance on the Austin City Limits programme in 1984. Including recent cuts mixed with NY classics, this is perhaps Neil s finest performances of that period. Disc Three houses another 80s gig, played at the end of the decade in Hamburg, Germany, on 8th December 1989, shortly after the release of his dynamic Freedom album.

Decent sound quality
decent sound quality.i bought it mainly for disc 3's live versions from the freedom album which i assumed would be electric, but the whole broadcast is acoustic.the acoustic versions are great though.

I enjoyed these songs too but there again music criticism is ...
Hi there,I reckon this box is worth the full monty of five stars not necessarily based on sound quality but the somewhat uniqueness of the performances & a very fair purchase price.A number of people bemoan the quality of the first 7 tracks in disc 1 & whilst performing with Bob Dylan & 3 of The Band, awarding 1 star in the process, very harsh in my opinion.I enjoyed these songs too but there again music criticism is a subjective subject.Kind regardsJames

Not too bad
Bought this mainly for Disc 2 . The 1984 Austin City Limits special. It would be nice if Neil gave consent to Austin City Limits to release it on DVD / CD. Or if Neil released The special live of the complete 2 CD show.Disc 1's first 7 tracks sound rubbish, Bad recording but the second show from 76 is better quality and they should have just put the Complete Acoustic Show of 76 on for Disc 1.Disc 3 is ok but not the best quality sound again, although it is a good setlist.
