These expansions are illuminating, and very helpful for someone ...
These expansions are illuminating, and very helpful for someone who is not steeped in Daisaku Ikeda's explanations of the Nichiren view of the Lotus Sutra. The Lotus Sutra has all the answers, yet is obscured by the use of expedient means required by an unschooled audience. Since the Upanishads were taught intensively to a small population of Brahmins, they needed far fewer expedient means, and coul;d teach the opening with fewer imposed obstacles.

What more can one say about this classic?
This is a cornerstone of not only Indian spirituality and literature, but of HUMAN spirituality and literature. Read it on Kindle, read it in a printed book, buy it or get it from the library, but please do yourself a favor and read it. If you're interested in Buddhism (as I am), you'll find many interested seeds of thought in this work that the Buddha later refined into his own tradition. Just wonderful.

Well explained
This book laid out simple explanations for the Upanishads. I have read several books on the subject. This book explains it best.

A very bad edition - Donโt buy
Some words at the end of certain chapters feel like commentary, but thereโs no change of font to discriminate. Also this translation is already in very plain language and the commentary is redundant. Whoever made this edition didnโt not put enough effort in it.

Excellent
Written v v well. I thought it will be an intellectual analysis. But Swami Parmanada blows me away with his intuitive take on the mighty Upanishads. Katha Upanishad is of course the jewel in the crown. Go for it

An invaluable study guide.
I have several different translations of The Upanishads. My favourite is probably that by Eknath Easwaran for its clarity and poetry. However, I would not be without this little book. Swami Paramananda wrote this book nearly a hundred years ago so the language sometimes feels a little archaic. However his explanatory notes are invaluable; he has a true, deep understanding of the inner meaning of the verses which has in turn deepened my own understanding and enjoyment of these amazing texts. Highly recommended.

Good book for students and also sanskrit knowing persons
A good book for students of philosophy. His introductory portions are good but there is no sanskrit mantras in this upanisad.
