Smaller size for a Cairn Terrier. Works great!
Im familiar with e-collar. I have a Cairn Terrier who is mostly obedient but if you know the breed it can be a challenge to get them safely off leash. As well she's a challenge with cats ! I needed an ecollar for a smaller pup and this has been a hyge help.

Bought softer over a decade ago, even more impressive
This is a much smaller model, so I am hoping the big dog model is built just as tough as the old version. I love the improvement in charging the collar feature. Our old one is 12 years old and still going strong outlasted the charger but thatโs only because the cat chewed through the cord. It did have some storage but is being put back to use now!! We are huge fans of Dogtra brand!!

Incredible training tool for dogs
Incredible dog training tool Works great. Doesnโt hurt dog. MUST first find a trainer who will teach you how to use it properly, otherwise you could screw up your dog.

Stimulation is very inconsistent
If you are considering buying this model, don't. Instead get the 280C. Stimulation is very inconsistent, I do not feel at all confident or comfortable using this for dog training. I have owned a Dogtra e-collar in the past for years with excellent results and I am very familiar with how to train with these devices. I am training a smaller dog, about 20 lbs, so I thought I try a different, smaller model of e-collar. This one is a really good size for a small dog and the product is very straightforward as it relates to proper usage. While I do prefer a digital style controller, this dial controller was passable and I think a good tradeoff considering how light the controller is. This collar has so-called "conductive plastic" contact points. If hearing this makes you skeptical then your skepticism would be well founded. I was also skeptical since plastic isn't conductive, but I trust Dogtra and figured maybe they just put a thin layer of plastic just above the metal contact points. I found this to be super frustrating to work with actually. The stimulation is very hard to predict as compared to my previous model with the metal contact points. I would have the dial set at around 10 and sometimes my dog would indicate it was effective and then at other times I would have it dialed up to 30 and get absolutely zero reaction. Worse is that if I would set it in the middle at 20 (which is just a little more than a tickle) then sometimes it did nothing and other times the dog would jump two feet in the air in surprise. This dog is a small breed (20lbs), short-haired Chihuahua/Rat Terrier Mix with a normal temperament so there is no reason that this product should not work. The collar wasn't loose at all and I am very experienced with these devices so this is NOT user error. I have completely stopped using this because it isn't fair or effective to training with it. Unfortunately the return window is only 30 days, barely enough time to get the dog property accustomed to wearing this before heavy training and I am now about 3 weeks outside of the window so I'm out the money. I called Dogtra and they said that since I purchased from Amazon that I would have to run any return through Amazon. Dogtra doesn't offer any kind of buyback or exchange. I was really hoping they would stand by their product and at least let me return this and purchase another model at a higher price point, but no luck. The representative recommended the 280C model, which gets you the digital dial, metal contact points, and 1/2 mile range (as compared to only 400yards for the IQ Mini). I feel like I'm out the money basically now which makes me want to explore other brands, but I had such a great experience with Dogtra with my last dog in training that I'll probably still stick with this company. There are lot of awful brands out there and I don't want another poor experience.

Fits great
Fits nicely on my small dog. She has a very thin neck and I was worried it would be cumbersome, but she seems very comfortable with it.

Best collar for my Frenchie
This is my second Dogtra IQ Mini. I love it. I do not have a fence but I can still let my dog out and not worry about him wondering off. I use the vibration mode the majority of the time. The shock mode is for emergency use. I let my pup out one morning and did not notice the deer in my yard since it was dark out. He went to chase them and I got him to stop with one tap on the shock setting. Before using you need to turn all the way down and test on yourself turning it up very gradually until u can just start to feel it. That is the setting you should then use. I recommend this color to everyone when they ask about it.

Very nice product EXCEPT awful battery life.
This has to be charged every single night. It works well when charged but if you forget to plug it in it does not work for another day. 24 hour battery life for a product this expensive does not seem adequate.
