Thomastik-Infeld Violin Strings (135B.18)

I guess I need more time. I put these on a 1/8 and 1/4 size violin. The G D and A string are very thick. The A is a lot thicker than typical cheaper strings I’ve used. It was pretty difficult to put on the smaller violin. Once on, every string kept untuning and because of the thickness of the strings, was hard to turn the pegs. The E string seems fine though. After the first few days I ended up taking off the D and A string for the 1/4 violin and putting the old ones back. It kept un tuning before he could finish playing his songs. It’s been a month now and the strings seem to un tune less on the 1/8 violin but still is prone to un tune quickly. I like the sound quality though. A lot less hissing and squeaking. It really does change the sound quality in the smaller violins. I’m not sure if it’s because they are smaller violins. It may be different on the full size violin.

We bought these Dominant strings to replace strings on a 1/8 violin. Teacher recommended Dominant and I have used them as a child. But, the A string sounded "tingy" to us compared to what was on there before. Since we bought the violin new and didn't know what was on there before, I had to find out. I didn't want to spend another $50 or more for strings on a violin she will soon outgrow, but even my 7 year old doesn't like the sound of this Dominant A string as much as the other. The teacher made some adjustments that made it sound better, but it wasn't better than the last. So, I used a violin String ID Color Guide to find out what violin strings were used before.Turns out, her violin was using a cheaper set of strings less than half the price - D'Addario. Needless to say, I was surprised. Am I switching? I'm considering it; though, I'm not sure if this Dominant A was just a "bad A".

Great strings. My daughter had to replace her last strings which were dead. These sound great.

My son's has a Hoffmann Prelude 1/8 violin from Shar Music and it sounds gorgeous with these strings. Very happy with the quality!

Sounds great on kids violin

These strings are the favorite of both of our violin teachers. We have used these for our 6-9 year old and they help her have a nice sound.
