VS1001 Wireless Security Camera System with 7" Touchscreen and HD Spotlight Camera, AC Powered (Spotlight 1-cam kit)

We got this system to assist my husband who doesn't have the mobility he once had due to a serious illness. Our house has few windows to the front, so the CasaCam lets him know within seconds when a vehicle pulls in the driveway or when packages or the mail is delivered. He's not tech-savvy but can easily access the app on his smartphone.The system worked perfectly right out of the box for four months, but then last week we encountered a small glitch with an "out-of-range" message on the monitor, so I emailed Customer Service. They promptly responded and we went back and forth troubleshooting to no avail. Within just a few days, I received a new monitor and a prepaid shipping box to return the old one! BAM! Press of a button or two and the new monitor works great! In my opinion, they went over and above to resolve the issue and I am grateful.Easy to set up, reasonable price, great picture both day and night, good sound quality and GREAT customer service.

I WAS ABSOLUTLY EXUBERANT WITH THE QUALITY OF THE VIDEO ON THE MONITOR (WHICH IS PROVIDED IN THE PACKAGE) AND THE AFFIXING OF THE CAMERA TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE(ALTHOUGH IT ALSO WORKS INSIDE). AUDIO CAN BE TURNED ON OR OFF AND THERE ARE MANY OTHER FEATURES SUCHAS NIGHT AND SPOT LIGHT, CAMERA SHOTS OR VIDEO, ETC. I JUST RECEIVED THE CASA CAM AND AT 74 YEARS OLD MY ONLY ISSUE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS PRODUCT. IT WAS CLIMBING UP THE LADDER WITH DRILL AND TOOLS IN HAND TO PLACE THE CAMERA ON THE OUTSIDE OF MY 3 FLOOR HOUSE.BUT THIS PRODUCT, YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID.

Daytime image is beautiful. Just like a picture. But, the night one is grainy and barely legible. Very disappointed. Also, when you delete files, you have to keep deleting them, over and over. Had to reformat the disc to get rid of them. Hope this is returnable.

Camera was easy to install, and set up. Accurate sensor triggers a clear picture recording.Installation manual could be made more explicit, and will save installation time, other wise it is a good product at a fair price.One thing that really needs improvement is the app. The app is clumsy and irresponsible

The media could not be loaded. **REVIEW FOR THE VS1002**This is the second CasaCam system that I've purchased since I was so very pleased with the first system and the tech support I got and I needed a second system to replace my very old GE camera and tiny monitor that has been badly failing that I had in the back room where I could see and talk to anyone coming up to my door when I'm not able to get to them quickly. So the new monitor is located in the back room with one of the new cameras facing the street.Now that everything is installed it's working perfectly and I'm more than happy with this second CasaCam system and recommend it to everyone who's looking for a security system.Regarding the Video:It's me pretending to be the masked intruder in the video. So please excuse my amateurish acting abilities and I hope you enjoy the bit of humor.The announcement that you'll hear in the video warning that "video surveillance is activating" is from my "MicroSound Motion Activated Sound Player" that I recorded and copied to the micro-SD for this little device for an extra measure to scare away anyone who's up to no good.I also have a motion activated flood light that "tricks" the camera into "Day Mode" at night when someone gets too close to my door. So the recording will be in color at night so I can give the police a good description of whomever was trying to break in or whatever they may be up to and give the police a copy of the video if needed.I'm using the second new camera paired to my older monitor that I keep near me all the time (accept when I'm in the back room) to cover the area on the back side of my home and when the light comes on that also "tricks" the cameras into "Day Mode" at night which it great seeing everything in color! ~See photo~So I highly recommend this security system.**OLDER REVIEW FOR THE VS1001**Everything was very cold (here in Massachusetts) when I opened the box so I let the system come to room temperature before plugging in the power. While I waited I checked the output voltage from both of the A/C adapters and they were both within a few 10ths of a volt of their rated output and that was better than most I've used.After connecting everything I moved the camera into another room, shut off the lights and set the motion detector to on. Wow! I was amazing at how bright the light was set at 100% brightness.After more testing I installed the camera outside and ran a few more tests. The picture quality was great on the monitor and even better when I copies some videos onto my computer from the SD card. Keep in mind that you'll need a USB card reader to do that. I use the "Transcend USB 3.0" model RDF5 that has slots for both the larger SD card that comes with the CasaCam as well as a slot for the smaller cards.After dark I continued testing and found that having the light set to 100% brightness caused the camera to switch to day-mode for a couple of seconds when a car went by and everything went quite dark and then back to night mode so I had to set the "dimmer" function to 25% that worked good for me. That setting my vary depending on the location and outside environment for your set up, so test it yourself if you have the same results of the camera switching to day mode at night when the light comes on.Regarding the light, so far I've had one person walking by who stopped in her tracks and turned and looks toward the camera wondering what that light was that came on when she came into view of the camera. So having the light surely may scare off some would-be intruders. Great feature!I've had very good tech support from the company starting from before I ordered this system when I had questions that I wanted answers to. Since getting this system the company has been very responsive to my emails with quick replied.Attached is a photo of the CasaCam monitor side by side with the old monitor I've been using with my GE system that's been failing. Sorry the quality of the photo isn't that good, but you can see there's quite a difference in the size of the monitors.Before getting this system I've tried three other video security systems that I had to return and this one is going to be a keeper.I'm also going to upload a video showing a daytime recording so you can see the quality of the image.I may add more to this review as time goes by.Bob

Interface seems a bit clumsy and written with an old programming language. My largest complaint is the fact it has a motion sensor on it, but the screen doesn't display wake up in time to catch what was moving. Yes, you can review the video, but with the clumsy interface the amount of time it takes to go back you might as well walk to window and look outside.....Several months into this, the unit will randomly beep. We've pretty much had to put it in direct line of sight because the transmitter isn't strong enough to go through a house wall. As I'm typing this, it just decided to beep again for no reason. Lastly, the motion sensor on this is so worthless it barely captures a vehicle driving up the drive. I've talked to tech support, but they didn't have any great advice to help.I'm not sure how this is meant to monitor anything more than foot traffic. Quite disappointing for the price.
