MXL AC-404 LED USB Boundary Condenser Microphone with Color Changing Base

I was looking for an upgrade over my webcam mic, and this speaker is awesome, great sound, unobtrusive, and the led light looks good. Very cool little mic.

I purchased one of these to use in one of our many Zoom conference room throughout our headquarters . Though this would add a great look to accent the room but do not be fooled by the image. The light is barley visible in even medium light and it does not use a luminescent bar just clear polyurethane where you can clearly see the single led in the middle. It does not illuminate evenly around you see light coming from the center and that is it. The mic quality is good but you are better off just getting the AC-404 without the LED and just get a led strip and do your lighting accents that way. With this LED it just makes the overall quality look cheap. In the future I hope this is improved on and will circle back and give it another shot.

I have been using this mic daily for gaming for the last eight years. It sits about a yard away from me and has been 100% reliable all that time. The microphone is quite heavy, and has a foam rubber base so it will not damage any surface it sits on. I bought it when the price was around $105, and it has been worth every cent I paid. I ended up buying one for a friend because he used all kinds of crappy mics, and the difference was immediately apparent once he set it up.

I've owned a lot of mics, audio interfaces, and cameras and this MXL boundary mic always comes in useful. The audio output is hot and has good EQ and low noise. The mic works well for my green screen and document camera for my STEM videos. I have the LED and the non-LED model. I recommend you use an extra large mouse pad because it acts as a shock mount. It will pick up keyboard sounds and the only way to get rid of that is with a dynamic mic with a scissor stand to get he mic in front of the keyboard so the pickup pattern such as cardioid eliminates the noise, but when I write on the document camera then the mic gets in the way or I might want to walk around and talk so I need the boundary mic. It has both 44.1KHz and 48KHz so that can help stop some problematic audio glitching at times.
