These light socket adapters do work very well, IF they are installed correctly. These adapters are NOT plug-n-play. The existing fluorescent light ballast MUST be bypassed in order for these adapters to work correctly with an LED or incandescent light bulb. I am quite sure all of the "bad" reviews are written by purchasers not understanding how these adapters actually function, and these people shouldn't really be working with electricity for their own safety. I have purchased 15 of these light socket adapters over the years, and every one of them has worked just as it should, because they were installed correctly. Also, since all these adapters do is pass electricity through them passively (no electronic components), they also work very well with dimmable LEDs and compatible LED dimmer switches. When we had our new home built a few years back, the contractor installed 15 recessed, ceiling mounted, can lights throughout the house, which look great. However, these can lights came with CFL bulbs at the time, which are a terrible source of light. Over a short period, we replaced all 15 CFL bulbs with HALO LED, dimmable, light temperature adjustable, ceiling can lights, and LED compatible Lutron dimmer switches. That is wear these great light socket adapters come in. After bypassing the ballast in all 15 light fixtures, I installed these socket adapters to plug the short HALO light pigtail screw-in socket connectors into. This saved having to bypass the actual GX24Q light sockets with another wire splice in order to "hard wire" the HALO lights, and create another possible source of failure within the light circuit. All 15 can light conversions work like a charm. Here we are now YEARS later, and all 15 of the can ceiling light conversions are still working perfectly. I have not had to change any of the new components in this time, including these great light socket adapters. I highly recommend these light socket adapters for anyone doing a recessed can ceiling light type of conversion. However, for those potential customers that don't understand how these adapters work, please call a licensed electrician for your own safety.

Disappointed that these didn’t work out. I was putting my Phillips Hue bulbs in and needed these to convert plug type. Connected 4-pin bulb worked fine. Tried conventional bulb in connector and bulb wouldn’t stay on. Tried both in box and complete failure. Had to give up after two hours of trouble shooting and going up and down two stories on ladders.

If your lamp has no Ballast, these work great. Most reviews are from people who don't know how their lamp is set up. My lamp had a four prong socket but only two prongs had power. These worked great and now I can use normal bulbs. These aren't for ballasted lamps. They don't convert it for you.

Edit to original review. Original review was negative. I had wired correctly w bypass of ballast. Problem was the wiring to the fixture was done with other lights on same circuit I had also removed them for replacement. After replacing both lights everything worked fine Apologies to seller for negative review

The only "job" these adapters have is to transfer the flow of electricity from the power source to the device. That's what the metal contacts are for. The adapter itself is not mechanical, it has no electronics or moving parts - there is nothing that needs to "work." Most of the poor reviews for these adapters are from people who think they are plug and play. They are not. CFL bulbs use a ballast. LED lights do not. In order for the LED to work, the ballast must be removed, taken out of the equation. This means you literally have to go into the ceiling/wall, find the junction box and snip the wires to bypass the ballast. I've done 5 of these in my home and they all work perfectly.

It was the right attachment for my lamp, but it didn’t light the (brand new) bulb from another lamp. When I tried to remove it, found it was stuck. I tried to pried it loose, but only succeeded in pulling the lamp socket out of the lamp. Now my lamp is broken. I received a complete refund, but now my beautiful lamp is garbage.

Product came earlier than estimated and packaged well. These adapters were exactly what I was looking for and function perfectly. Prior to buying these, I was considering just replacing my light fixtures completely, but that would've cost me at least a couple hundred dollars. Thanks to these adapters (and a little bit of elbow grease to bypass the ballasts, very important to do but fairly simple), I was able to keep my nice original fixtures, replace the old bulbs with more efficient ones, and all for less than $10! Only one minor complaint: Upon unwrapping the package, these had a very strong chemical odor, so I left them on the porch for a few hours to air out. Just a heads up if you're sensitive to smells or want to avoid off-gassing in your home prior to installation. Other than that, very satisfied overall!

Does not last more than 2 min with an LED Light. The Light seems to be over heating and stops working.
