Lu must learn to leave his ego on the sidelines if he wants to finally connect with others in the climax to the New York Times bestselling and award-winning Track series from Jason Reynolds. Lu was born to be cocaptain of the Defenders. Well, actually, he was born albino, but thatโs got nothing to do with being a track star. Lu has swagger, plus the talent to back it up, and with all thatโnot to mention the gold chains and diamond earringsโno oneโs gonna outshine him. Lu knows he can lead Ghost, Patina, Sunny, and the team to victory at the championships, but it might not be as easy as it seems. Suddenly, there are hurdles in Luโs wayโliterally and not-so-literallyโand Lu needs to figure out, fast, what winning the gold really means. Expect the unexpected in this final event in Jason Reynoldโs award-winning and bestselling Track series. Review: Great series! - My middle school daughters love Al the books in this series! Review: All about Love - Jason Reynolds writes really great books. Lu is the last book in the Track Series, about a bunch of kids on a track team. Lu has a good home life with loving parents. He is an only "miracle" child. He is a Black Albino. And now his parents have told him he's going to have a little sister. And he's no longer sure that he's the lightning bolt he's always thought he was. This one is about accepting who you are, overcoming being different, and loving your families - both the one you were born with and the one that you create. It covers so many things and it made me misty. I recommend the whole series. They're short quick reads.

A lovely finish to a great series!
4.5 stars Lu and his family are THE CUTEST. So, this book opens with Lu finding out his mother is having a baby, and then becomes a great take about making mistakes and rising above terrible choices. Reynolds ties out his amazing series with a very honest tale with some tough life lessons built-in. Addiction is a big part of this story, and I think itโs an important and relatable topic for middle grade literature. Our kids today are seeing and experiencing addiction in staggering numbers and we need to discuss the consequences and impacts of this disease more openly. And what makes this book even better is we finally learn so much more about Coach. His childhood, his past, his philosophies, his family... A great ending, bittersweet, yet satisfying.

The whole track series is a study of what motivates kids
I loved the series. Of course Jason nailed the dialect of these kids, the patter and the flow of the dialogue. But he also nailed the characterization, the emotions and heart breaks of these team mates who were going through the highs and the lows of becoming a track family.

Son loves Jason Reynolds!
My son has loved reading this entire series, and he is not a kid who likes to read. This kept him interested and was a story he liked. As a non reader, I was very happy to see his interest in this series.

Fun, charming, and more.
This series is really nice writing. It's charming, and also doesn't gloss over difficulty. Great for young adults, or younger, or .....older--I've enjoyed everything he's written, and I'm in my 60s.

Iโm so glad that I read this series. The first two stories were good but man, that third lap he locked in and this fourth book he pushed with everything he had.

The entire TRACK series is great for kids
My 9 year old hooked onto the Track Series when she was 8 and was gifted the 1st book. We preordered Lu the 4th and final book in the series. SHe loved the entire set and we have got couple of other kids aged 9 / 10 hooked on to the series. Very interesting books - esp if you want your child to realise there are kids from different kinds of families and with very different lives and dreams.
