In order to enjoy this book you have to be a reader of fiction. Yes, this book is fictionalized but because of Michael Crichton's expertise in medical and biological sciences, much of what he writes in this story may well be a bit truthful. As he writes about the use of dinosaur DNA extracted from fossilized insects you feel as if you are right in the lab with the technicians. As his words take you in to the dino nursery you can visualize the baby animals. Yes, Jurassic the movie was all that it was, but the writing of Jurassic Park the book has you feeling the crunch of each dinosaur bite from the little raptors to the giant tyrannasaurus rex! I've always been interested in dinosaurs and I feel Crichton's Jurassic gave the reader intelligent knowledge of the dinosaur, its past, technology insight, and the damage the misuse of DNA technology can cause. Jurassic the book makes you think hard on whether DNA biotechnology promises good for mankind or a pathway to danger! I slowed my reading down toward the end of Jurassic because I wanted to make sure I had Lost World in my hands before I finished the book. I have Lost World and can't wait to start. Jurassic the book is my first novel I've read of Crichton and it will not be the last. I love reading a book by an author that uses bits and pieces of truth along with action, suspense, grit, humor, terror, and fun. I also love to read a book by an author who writes his characters so vividly that it seems as if I know them and I can't wait to get back to reading the book again so that I can rejoin my new friends I found in the book. My son loves the story unfortunately the first day when he got it, the book was already bent when we opened the package.

I got the book used and my wife said I was crazy. The book was in good condition and my 30 year old son loved the book. He could not put it down.

I just love this story: both the book and the movie. Had this book when it first came out but ended up going with my eX. With the new movie coming out I wanted to read both Jurassic Park and Lost World. Michael Crichton writes a very smooth story filled with lots of extras.

I wasn't sure about buying books online. I was afraid that the descriptions of the books online wouldn't be the same once I received the book. When the book arrive in my house I was thrilled of ordering the book. The book arrived when it said it was and it good conditions. I'm very satisfied with my book.

Like a lot of people I had seen the movie but never read the book. I guarantee after you read it you will never look at lizards or birds the same way again!

This was very confusing trying to find a hardcover version, and anyone selling the book didn't do a very good job at saying wether or not the version they had was hardback or paperback. In the end I found out I spent $16 on a paperback when I thought I had clearly bought a hardback. I would have never spent $16 on a paperback, but at this point I might as well keep the book.For being a first edition paperback, its in pretty good condition, no weird smells or stains, no marks or anything but that will vary from book to book, after all, they are used.
