Description

In a textbook for students who may have little or no mathematics beyond high school, Hatcher introduces number theory from a geometric perspective as a complement to the usual algebraic approach that highlights the spatial and visual aspects. A central geometric theme, he says, is a certain two-dimensional figure known as the Farey Diagram, which displays certain relationships between rational numbers beyond just their usual distribution along the one-dimensional real-number line.
