Very Satisfied
Read the few available reviews and wasn't sure what to expect but I have no complaints! This is a standard, clump-free yeast extract like the type I've used before for culturing probiotics and home brewing. It has the usual characteristic smell (yeast extract has an odor which I'm very used to, but I know it turns off some people), it dissolves easily, and microorganisms seem to find it very tasty lol. *Please just make sure this type of product is what you want: "Yeast extract" is NOT the same as "nutritional yeast flakes." The flakes taste and smell very mild, almost like a subtle grated cheese, so...if i were looking for a healthy condiment for my food, I'd get that for sure (plus it's generally cheaper by weight, too! :) But this stuff, "yeast extract," is much, much better for culturing because it's processed differently — it dissolves quickly & completely and is easier for the little microorganisms to eat. This is a great value for yeast extract.

Good yeast extract. Good value.
Smells and tastes like good quality yeast extract. Can be used in food for flavoring and in homebrewing as a yeast nutrient. I use it for both. Please note this is yeast *extract*, which is dried autolyzed yeast - not to be confused with nutritional yeast. This product has a more intense umami flavor, and is an excellent (and natural) substitute for MSG in cooking. The smell is pretty intense, but it doesn't carry over into the food if used in the proper amount - a little goes a long way. Make sure the jar is tightly sealed after each use. If you have a vacuum sealer with a jar adapter, I recommend sealing it in a Mason jar. That way it will remain fresh for a very long time. This is a good value for the price. Recommended.

So much better than MSG
I got this to make homemade smoked sausage without adding MSG to it. I’m just NOT putting MSG in my own sausage. This still provides that umami flavor profile without the headaches or the addictive tendencies MSG seems to generate (once you have a little MSG, you want a whole lot more). Great smell and texture. Has actual nutrients unlike the purely chemical MSG products. Good value, quality product, that came quickly and sealed fully.

Too expensive
This product should come in a smaller size. I’ll probably have 90% left when it expires

Great for improving flavor, but very expensive
I make my own plant-based Parmesan with ground cashews, adding about an eighth of a teaspoon seriously bumps up the flavor. However, this was extremely expensive and by the time it expires, I probably would’ve only went through a few teaspoons or so altogether. So it’s probably up to you if it’s worth it for the money. I doubt I’m gonna buy this again as I’m hoping to find a smaller container for less money. A very little bit goes a long way and I just don’t need such a big bottle.

Tasty
A little goes a long way but adds a rich, savory flavor to stews, soups and gravy.
