It is ready to go right out of the box. A few simple adjustments and I was skiving belts. Before it was delivered I was skiving with my round knife and was getting frustrated with how long it took me to do a small area around where the buckle was going. Then, the package came and I was in heaven. Ten minutes to figure it out and I was doing a whole belt in one minute. Wish I would’ve bought it in the beginning. Pull evenly and you will get a nice even cut. I will put another nut on both adjuster screws to keep the blade locked in place. Simple, practical and easy to use. I use adjustable clamps to hold it down.

Works very well, pay attention to the direction and angle of pull and it does the job. Do not do what they show in the photograph, that will cut the leather off. pull in an upward angle. I take several passes rather than one. I used a stack of feeler gauges between the roller and blade to adjust the height on both ends.

Does the job, but there are a few things to know and that the designer should consider. User: Take it slow, do not try to hog off a lot of leather in one pass. 3-4 passes are much better. Designer: having 2 set screws for one bar isn't ideal as the set screws don't allow for synchronization, one set screw with a bar across would be far better. Need better fine tuning ability. A latch to lock the handle in place is needed. Other than that it beats trying to hand skive straps by a long shot, so good buy.

This tool is great. It's one of the most important pieces of equipment I use. My only regret is that I didn't buy the bigger one. Very sharp, easy to use and definitely sturdy.

I think for thicker and wider leather it might work. I was trying to get thinner straps for a bag and it was just not working. The tension screws were coming loose every few inches and then it would shave down the leather til it cuts off. When it was working it wasn’t consistent. Maybe for keychains it would be helpful, but I wished I would have watched YT reviews before buying.

It is seldom the case that I purchase a product and it works exactly as expected. This is the one. This thing is simple, high quality, and it works. I have used this on over ten belts so far with perfect results. I am not sure why people would buy those $400 skivers when this gets it done for a fraction of the price. Great product!

I've only used it testing how it cut some belt straps. I adjusted the blade thickness, it cuts like butter. I did mount it to my bench. Make sure the blade is even on both sides. If this thing fails I will update, but as for now, I am very impressed.

It might not have quite the precision and adjustability of the namebrand machines, but neither does it have the price tag. Great value for the money. It takes a little getting used to, but works well for thinning straps.

Works great for skiving leather straps and belt ends plus ton of other leather item uses. Easy to use and easy to adjust for thickness.

Just got it and cant use it cause it came missing the pieces that hold the blade on ... not impressed
