I got lucky with this seller. After seeing so many horror reviews about the condition of similar items upon arrival, I am glad to report that nothing of the sort happened with my purchase. It arrived in pristine condition. No chips, splits or cracks in the wood. The details are precisely carved, even the eyes are painted perfectly. It is evenly stained with a beautiful rich color. Frequent handling may add to the patina over time. It has a perfectly clear tone when you rasp it. Not dull. You have to hold it in your hand to get the hollow tone quality that sings. The 4” size fits perfect in my palm and has the exact mid tone I was aiming for. The included stick is also perfectly carved and stained and is a great length and fits neatly in the frog’s mouth. There was only one slight negative depending on how you see it. It comes in a sealed plastic bag. There was a slight insecticide odor when I opened the bag. Before handling, I gave it a thorough wipe with a damp cloth. It might have just been the smell of the stain, but I can also see the merit of shipping it in a bug-resistant sealed package. I imagine somewhere in the long journey to my door, such an object could be susceptible to wood eating pests. A quick wipe and an airing out solved the problem.

I bought this as a Christmas gift so I didn't take pictures, but apparently my mental image of 4 inches and the actual size did not match! This is a much larger frog than I anticipated (which is a good thing in this case!), so I was pretty excited to get this. The whole frog took up much of my hand, and I do not have small hands by any means. It seemed fairly sturdy, and the woodwork on it didn't feel flimsy in the slightest. My sister did test it and play with it upon opening, and the noise is quite loud, with an effective stick(?) that rolled smoothly down the spine.

Sound quality is fantastic and reminds me of listening to frogs as a child. It fits perfectly in your hand and is high quality. Definitely recommend, especially how cost effective it is. Great for all ages.

Not much to say -- this is a pretty funny-looking instrumental frog. It has a small learning curve for the correct stroking speed to play it right.

I expected the ribs on the back of the frog to give very different sounds and they all kind of mush together. Other than that, the kids love it.
