Halt Dog Repellant Spray (2)

I’ve been a runner for over 40 years, running hundreds of miles a year and have had many issues with dogs. This is my third time ordering Halt. Very effective and once I have sprayed a dog, the next time I see them, just holding the can of spray at them stops them in their tracks. The clip on the can holds it well on my running shorts. It’s the most humane way to repel dogs I have found.

This has been my EDC for 55 years. Ample capacity and best bang for the buck. Legal to carry in most places (check). This is carried by utility workers and mail carriers, and is popular with bike riders. I keep in every car and several cans stashed in various places. Good if you walk your dog to protect against strays and off leash dogs.

A neighbor who thought she didn't have to contain her dog who visciously attacked and bit my beagle. during an evening walk. Reported her to the police who said they get complaints all the time yet they do nothing. So we got this spray and trust me, that dog doesn't bother us anymore.

These 1.5 ounce cans are nicely sized for walks and have belt clips. Just note that they are not the size of bear spray canisters (see photo for reference), as I mistakenly inferred from the images.

The spray was easy to carry and apply as needed. It dispensed consistently and was straightforward to use for general deterrent purposes. Overall, it functions as a simple, portable repellant option.

Works. Was walking my dog when 3 dogs surprised us and went after my dog with a large Rottweiler that was approaching as well. I sprayed the dog that was trying to bite my dog and then I sprayed the Rottweiler. It took a second but the dogs backed off and me and my dog were not injured. The other dogs appeared to be fine after a few minutes. I do wish this stuff was a little stronger but it did what it's supposed to do so 5 stars.

I walk my big dogs every day. We've been attacked a few times. There are some fake labs that run loose and attack us regularly and they dont like this stuff and leave. Today we had cause to use it on a Rottweiler and it had no affect. Another normal dog was with it. The spray stuck to its nose and it just stood there. It was not really the aggressive one so it didn't matter. Actually it was a fence fight and no one was hurt luckily but it showed me that this stuff is no good against big exited animals that want to kill each other. Even my dog didn't care about this spray. 'Didn't phase him at all. And by the way, it squirts about 5 or 6 feet. Not far enough in my opinion. A small fire extinguisher works better, but they break easily. Value for money isn't very good if you can't depend on it and you only have a false sense of security.

A whole year after purchasing it and I unfortunately had to use it today when an off leash dog came running up to us. It works. The dog immediately backed off after it came running towards us, even when I aimed it only at the ground. Unfortunantly I did get a whiff of it too, so be aware it is more of a mist rather then a stream but since it is meant ot be harmless and only stop an attack in the moment even getting in the cross fire a but is worth avoiding a dog fight. My dog seemed to also get a whiff of it in the moment and it didn't see to affect him afterward. Not sure how well it would work against a more aggressive dog but it was enough to deter this one who was being very dominant in how it was approaching us and I wasn't about to risk it getting in my dogs bubble.
