Midnight is such a strong, dynamic character, which makes this book a very enjoyable reading experience 😀 Review: Fantastically Fabulous Read - This was a superb book. Sister Souljah has once again proven her skill and talent as a writer. There was not a dull moment. I was captivated by Midnight and his family and experiences in the 1st book. I found myself saddened at the end of that book as I am when all Great reads come to an end. I could not wait for the 2nd book. I hoped it would be as exhilarating and powerfully written as book 1. Well I must say that I have NOT been disappointed. Book 1 ended fabulously and left me on the edge of my seat wondering what would become of the characters. Well, Book 2 exceeded my excitement and joy level. Every detail was described so vividly until it was as if I was there with the characters at each encounter and experience. Throughout the book I actually had to fight my desire to rush to the end just to find out the conclusion. It was almost torture just to read through the whole book because it was so beautifully written until each moment had me excited and yearning to know if it would end beautifully and successfully for the characters or with heartbreak. I found myself laughing out loud, tearing up, feeling anger and frustration, disappointment and concern, joy and pleasure, excitement and relief, right along with the characters, as if they were actual people whose lives were unfolding before my very eyes. I was so glad that I didn't ruin the story by rushing to the end, because it ended absolutely beautifully. It truly left me wanting more and yet at the same time feeling so satisfied and fulfilled that I am not saddened by the thought of my wants going unfulfilled. Thank you Sister Souljah for a phenomenal creation. Your hard work, dedication and love for your craft shines brightly and burns through each and every single page. It has truly been an honor and pleasure to read your books.

Compelling, Entertaining, Yet Educates
This book entertains you yet it teaches you. It draws you into the story with emotions so intense they jump off the pages and into your body forcing you to surrender to them as if you are a part of th it. Once again I found myself in love with Midnight, always forcing myself to remember he is only a teenage boy. He epitomizes what a man should be in his everyday life and also to the women in his family and even to those in need of his protection/strength/support. The women are strong yet demure, gentle and peaceful, examples for how women should be. Once I started reading I was unable to put the book down until I had read every single page, the thank yous, the acknowledgements, etc, to insure that nothing was missed. I enjoyed the surprises. Some of which forced me to think of my own life and my own beliefs. Every description is so detailed and intricate you see it in your mind's eye or feel it as if it were happening to you. The different meanings/types of love are described with such deep passion yet each is distinguishable by the reader and forces us to think of love in different ways. The ending is cleverly done so as to satisfy the reader yet it leaves room for more to come. It is fair to say I enjoyed this book thoroughly and was moved by it. It is one of those stories you just never forget.

The Story of Midnight is captivating
Sista Souljah has done it again as far as grabbing her readers and making them want more with her characters. She made you understand the debts of love and challenge your beliefs of when it can take place. Look the Midnight persona makes you want to look into Muslim beliefs and practices per the Quran... I can't wait to understand how he linked up with the street side of things given his faith.. great book and highly recommended.

Read more to empowering than pleasure
The Coldest Winter Ever was mostly pleasure and typical African American lust field/ romance novel books. I gave this a high score because unlike the other Midnight I didn't give a high score because I read some what agreed to other's comments. But, I'm not confused and I'm very clear headed when I state... Sistah Souljah is a Genius! In order to enjoy her novels you must be a seeker of something other than just Pleasure and Drama. She stretches things so much the anticipation builds up so heavy and she doesn't give you the drama you long for in the Midnight novels. But, what she does give you if really paying attention and if you really need to hear what she have to say... is CRAZY Knowledge and wisdom. She's giving you a well researched perspective on a wise black males heart! I mean do we black women not slow down enough to really hear our men out? It's a bit extreamE as is the BIBLE and the QUARAN, but do we not agree they and this MIDNIGHT CHARACTER are truths? We must remember that the Author is an Activist not just an author writing for pleasure. But, one who's intent is to not ask for hand outs anymore or paybacks from White folk. To cause blacks and whites to own up to the responsibility of creating a poor image of African Americans to the world. And through her books to give African Americans a secret weapon/tool if paying attention. It can only be obtained by those who are hungry for it and those who are wise ... no matter our differences in religion and background her novels are universal and have a hidden message. You must read it with a highlighter in hand. You must read it like you are reading a text book. It's defFinantly an author to be added to the long list of African American literature for Universities.

I first read midnight and loved the relationship between Midnight and Akemi so I decided to go for the part 2 Midnight and the meaning of love. The book was so good that I could not put it down.It gave me a lot of insight into the Asian culture especially the Japanese and Korean one. I thought the book was very well researched. It made me take a good look at my own life...In fact the book was so good that I didnt want it to end. The only critcicism that I have is the way the book ended, I liked Chiasa but I didnt think that Midnight should have taken her as his second wife, in my opinion, it was a bit far fetched..Lets face it, in this day and age, especially in America, how many 14 years old boys take up 2 wives? One is hard enough to deal with both emotionnally and financially. Otherwise, the book was a great read. Since reading the book, i have been obsessed with having an Asian wife of my own

This is one of the best books I have read for a long time; the author is an exceptionally skilled writer who has transported me into the "world of Midnight" to the extend, I can feel his emotions of responsibility, religious beliefs and his love for his wife. Sorry it has taken me so long to find this Author Sister Souljah, I salute her and will continue to be one more of her avid readers

Beautiful continuation of the first Midnight novel. There is a huge sense of adventure in this novel, and at times, it can be a bit whimsical. Some readers may have wanted Midnight to stay exactly the same, but remember, he is a growing and changing as a man. I loved it. It just what it says: a love story. I don't think anyone who loves Midnight will be disappointed.
