From Flagship to Dual 12" External Sub Upgrade I started with the Nakamichi Dragon 11.4.6—already the king of soundbars. But I wanted more "tactile" air movement, so I integrated two additional 12" external subwoofers into the mix. Here’s the result. The Configuration: 11.6.6 The Dragon already comes with quad-subwoofers (two dual cabinets). By adding two 12" subs, the low-end frequency response is now sub-atomic. The Dragon Core: Handles the Air Motion Transformers (AMT) and the 11.4.6 spatial bubble with insane precision. The 12" Add-ons: These handle the "earthquake" frequencies (below 25Hz) that you feel in your seat, providing a physical impact that the stock subs can't reach alone. Performance: The "Nuclear" Option Physicality: In movies like Blade Runner 2049, the room doesn't just vibrate—it is pressurized. The 12" cones move enough air to make the bass feel "heavy" and cinematic. Headroom: Because the 12" subs take the heavy lifting, the entire system stays crystal clear even at 80%+ volume. There is zero distortion. The Dragon is already 10/10. Adding two 12" subs makes it an 11/10. It’s the ultimate setup for anyone who thinks "too much bass" is a myth.The new Inferno Mode isn't just a bass boost; it’s a complete recalibration of how the system handles low-end energy. By enabling Inferno Mode on a system already bolstered by two 12" subs, the crossover management becomes surgical. It’s no longer just "loud" bass; it’s controlled violence. The "kick" in the chest during action sequences has doubled. The 12" cones finally feel like they are being pushed to their true mechanical limit. We need to talk about Nakamichi’s philosophy. In an industry where other manufaturer release a "new" flagship every 12 months just to add one software feature, Nakamichi chose respect. Zero Obsolescence: They didn't release a "Dragon Gen 2" to give us Inferno Mode. They gave it to the early adopters for free via USB. Investment Security: Knowing that my $3,500+ investment is getting better with age instead of becoming a "last year's model" is why I (and many others) have become Nakamichi loyalists.

So now that I have two Dragon systems I have to give you my thoughts on the new quad 12” subwoofer configuration. I am not an audiophile, I have always loved music. I’ve played it listened to it and lived it my entire life, as lots of us do. I read reviews by likely paid critics who were anti Dragon. I can say now that I have my system dialed in it not only is the best home theater I have ever heard it is on par with the systems on top end theaters now. I love cinema, but I love the art of music even more. Music frames my life and life experiences good or not so much. Last night my wife was with her sister on a trip and I had the opportunity to really listen to my collection of music with the new Dragon system. All I can say is the critics who said it lacks musicality are just wrong. As I set in my chair rewinding my life through sound, the quality of the sound literally gave me goosebumps. I have a main stereo that is moderately priced in the audiophile communities at around 60K. I cannot tell you the last time I got that personal with my main system, which is excellent. There was no alcohol or other sense provoking drug involved as I have been battling liver cancer for two years for the second time around and am on a strictly regulated transplant list. Last night and even now as I write this I am listening to emotion and hope playing through what you have created, I feel your passion my friends. This system will go into history at least with me as legendary, listening yesterday reminds me how wonderful life is and has given me the lift even with my chronic pain to keep going.
