I have several types of acoustical panels installed in my home studio, which is used for live recording and mixing. These are intended to mimic (somewhat) much higher end professional panels in a consumer-level price range. Professional panels that use this design are usually made of maple due to its acoustical properties. Consumer-grade panels, including these, are constructed of MDF (manufactured wood). I'm glad that the manufacturer doesn't refer to these as "soundproofing" panels, which they absolutely are not. Panels of this design will decrease audio reflections (sound bouncing off hard surfaces, which can greatly throw off what you're hearing and which can be very bad in a mixing studio). But they will certainly not soundproof a room. These are mounted on felt-like poly material using what was probably a staple gun. The strips of MDF are more secure than some that I have seen--a definite plus. The oak and walnut samples are slightly wider and thicker than the black sample. As is typical, the oak and walnut samples have a very thin veneer covering the MDF. The veneers on these samples are a lot better than some I've seen, which in some cases you can accidentally scratch with your fingernail. I prefer the oak and walnut to the black sample, which appears to have been painted with a satin finish. The finish is OK, but I definitely prefer the look of the wood veneer. For consumer-grade acoustical panels, these would be a good choice. These samples are a smart way to examine what you're buying before investing in a full set. (I would definitely recommend the walnut, which in my view is the nicest.) Recommended.

These panels seem well-made. They feel pretty dense, the adhesive backing works well and makes installation easy, and they do work to cut down room echo and can help deaden a space. I picked these up to put in my home office, which has a lot of hard surfaces and very few absorptive ones. Any noise generated reflects out of the room, and down the hall which also has very few absorptive surfaces to attenuate sound. I wanted to have something I could put on my door to cut down on echoes and provide a (very small) amount of sound insulation when the door is closed, and these have worked very well for that purpose. Sound and music in my office sounds much better and more natural, and the difference is pretty stark when the door is open and the tiles are against the wall, compared to when the door is closed and the tiles are exposed to the room overall. Since the description does mention that these can be used for soundproofing, I think it's worth discussing what these tiles can and cannot do. What these tiles can do is reduce echoes, and add a little extra mass and depth to a wall or door. This can cut down on reflected or transmitted sound, and make your room sound better, but it will not (for example) block out the noise of an inconsiderate neighbor or crying baby. There are no tiles you can buy to stick on a wall which will do much better than these do; to cut down on noise, you need lots of surface area and/or mass to absorb sound energy. If you're expecting to buy one or two packs of these and solve problems with noise, you will be disappointed. Just for fun, I took sound readings with a decibel meter outside the room I used these in before and after hanging the panels up. All readings were taken with the meter at the same distance from the door, and with a speaker playing broad-spectrum white noise at a consistent level from inside the room. Background noise from other rooms was kept consistent during the readings, and I used the minimum levels seen while taking a reading to be as fair as possible. My control reading with the meter (with the door closed, and no panels installed) was 46.6dBA. 12 tiles covered just over half of my door, and reduced sound in the hall by about 0.4dBA, to 46.2dBA. This isn't nothing, but it's not soundproofing.

High quality, was able to install on walls securely with double sided adhesive tape. Looks beautiful, will be ordering more soon! They are heavy, but easy to install by myself. They fit together snug, they are a little expensive but you get what you pay for.

So nice, easy to install! Did not use any glue just drywall screws. Its heavy, but I manage to install it alone. I chose the Natural Oak. Skeptical at first because its a lot cheaper, but it work so well. I like fbe color over all.
