Contractor's Solvent basically removes any sticky mess
This stuff is amazing. I have used it to remove oil based paint, silicone caulk, and spray foam from skin and clothing. It also removes road tar and baked on dead bugs from your car. Most recently, I used it to remove asphalt seal coating and tar from our white aluminum siding. We had our asphalt driveway seal coated. I asked the crew to put some extra sealant or tar near the lip of the garage door. They ended up smearing tar and sealant onto my white aluminum trim work in front of the garage door. Of course, I didn't see this until I got home from work, and the tar had baked in the sun all day. I never thought I would get it off, but Contractor's Solvent removed it easily with no damage to my paint or the aluminum. My only complaint is that the spray bottles are terrible. They leak, drip, and constantly fall over. I simply transferred the solvent to my own cheap spray bottle and tossed the original bottle into the recycle bin.

safe for powder coat
I was looking for something to take silicone caulk off of powder coated metal. I tried 3 products: this one, a silicone caulk remover made by 3m, and one called "Mostenbocker's" available at the big hardware store that has an orange logo. The 3m product is the strongest, works the quickest, and dissolves the underlying powder coat. I think that would work best on ceramic tile or a porcelain coated tub. Don't use it on plastic. I poured some in a plastic cup, and it dissolved the cup. The Mostenbocker's stuff was pretty strong, not as strong as the 3m, and it dissolved the powder coat too; it just took longer. For my purpose, this Orange-Sol stuff was best. It took longer, but didn't hurt the paint. With any of these 3 products, you need to use a good plastic scraper. The solvents will loosen the caulk, but it still takes a little work to get it off. If you're taking off tar, I'd get this. If you're taking silicone caulk off from around your bathtub, get the 3m. It will save you time.

Just amazing for silicone on fiberglass RV
I removed a few exterior items from my rv. The water fill port, taillights and a few other things. What was left on the rv fiberglass was butyl and black silicone. The butyl was easy to get off but left a residue. The black silicone on the other hand was super bonded to the rv fiberglass. I tried for an hour to get it off. I didn’t want to scratch the rv. I tried goo gone, plastic tools etc... but that silicone was on there. I ordered this product and some plastic razor blades. I rear spray and let it soak for an hour. So I sprayed it on and grabbed a quick bite to eat. 15 mins later went out and it took very little effort with the plastic razor blades. Silicone came right off. I used blue shop towel to buff a little with my finger tips to get a couple small areas to complete it all up. I did all the silicone removal for the rest of the items and was done in 25 mins. Amazing product. Will make sure I always have this stuff in my garage!!!

Good product
Initially I was happy with the result but when the sprayer quit working I was disappointed. I was going to try to find another solution but when I found out that it contains Petroleum Distillates I was going to need a new sprayer in order to dispense the product.

Really works
I have used this on many things and it has worked every time. Even had a sticky residue on the bathroom surround and took right off and did not harm the surround.

Did not work at all
The only positive was that it smelled good. It did not soften the caulk at all to help me remove it. And then it's impossible to wash off. Everything is greasy. It smells and feels like goo gone so it probably would remove adhesive from a sticker or something like that.

Also great for domestic use
This stuff works great. I highly recommend keeping it around even if you aren't your local handyperson. Now that I have it, cleaning up gooey messes is much easier. I've used this to clean up sticky car cupholders, freezer soda explosions, unidentified goo, etc. and it has worked like a charm. I liked Goo Gone as well and it's a great product for the price, but I think this is a step up if you're willing to spend more on something like this. Obviously, it's not going to have a pleasant smell, but it is very tolerable. It leaves a mildly oily residue after use, so it helps to wipe it up with warm water afterward. It hasn't stained anything that I've used it on, but I use it and store it with caution.
