DEWALT Black Oxide Drill Bit Set, 20-Piece (DW1177)

Great drill bits very strong I own 3 sets and I have not broken one yet.

Ordered the DEWALT DW1176 Oxide Set Black 16-Pieces and instead received what appears to be the DEWALT DWA1184 Gold Coated Set. On the hard plastic shell in says DW1176. In the local hardware store, the DEWALT DW1176 Oxide Set comes with black bits. The same local hardware store sells DEWALT DWA1184, which is the Gold Coated Set. They are both sold as two different items and at a difference price. Maybe they just change the type of coating. But the coating, besides preventing rust, it does also helps prevents premature wear. I have made several holes on 3/16 thick steel plate using the 1/8, 7/64 and 3/32 bits and they did the job. I deduct a star because the item I got does not match the item I received. I will keep using them and will update accordingly.

Yeah buddy! Dewalt all the way in my book! This is a nice set for the average job. It's compact enough to throw in your tool bag and get the job done. These are Dewalt quality bits so you can have piece of mind (play on words intentional). I always like having extra bits just in case (play on words intentional). But seriously, I'm a dewalt guy, my shop is covered with yellow tools. Whether you're commercial or residential or both ~ I recommend them! Git to drilling!

For the money, these drill bits can't be beat. My old set of craftsman bits was fine, but after years of abuse as well as losing some bits I had to purchase a new set. I didn't want to break the bank, so ended up with these. The case alone makes this a great purchase. It is easy to keep the bits organized and avoid the loss of bits which seems to plague me. Second, the 3 bonus bits this comes with is invaluable to me. I seem to use my 3/32 bit more than anything else, so the extra bit really comes in handy. In fact I snapped one of the 3/32 bits, so it saved me a trip to the store. These bits are sharp and great for wood with a charged drill. I did cheat and use one of the bits to drill through angle iron - it got the job done, but I wouldn't recommend it as these aren't designed for non-wood surfaces, I believe.

Had a similar case with driver bits and liked it! This one has a nice variety and seems like it will be a good kit. Havent used them yet but dont have too many concerns being it is DeWalt. Price was right as well.
