britannia - season 01 (3 dvd) box set DVD Italian Import

This show was so captivating I watched all of season 1 in a single day. Very interesting! Note: It is NOT historically accurate, it is not meant to be, it is a fantasy show. Very little is known about the Celtic people, because they did not write down their history. Almost all the accounts of these people is from the Roman point of view, and this series certainly reflects that. I was a little hesitant at first after reading other reviews that stated this series was a "gore-fest". It really wasn't, no more than the walking dead and certainly no where near as bad as game of thrones. If you are able to sit back and take this show for what it is, a piece of entertainment, then I highly recommend giving Britannia a watch! But if you are going to nit-pick at it, skip it. I, personally, cannot wait for season two!

I wasn't sure at first, but this series is now one of my top ten favs!! What a creative twist on the mystery of Britannia. Superb acting, great storyline, and all elements of sorcery, history, warfare and more. Love the bits of humor too! Waiting for Season 4!!

That’s the only point I can see that this show is making. And maybe It’s true. If so, why make a tv show about it? If not true…lord, why make a tv show about it?!?! It’s staggeringly violent and everyone Is reprehensible. It’s depressing. I’m sitting here wondering if people are worse or better now and i Can’t decide. I’m sure there must have been one decent human on earth back then! If there was, this show wouldn’t write them in to it, that’s for sure. My god. And the Romans….they beat the nazis. Brutal. What is the point I wonder? Were all humans this casual about killing and cruelty and so One dimensional??? Bizarre the things people spend so much money and time On. What’s even more terrifying to me - is that this is somehow informative or entertainment!? Honestly I’m truly unsure what is more unsettling - if this is an accurate representation of a time in history or it’s made up (exaggerated).

Very much enjoyed the show. Would've liked it better if the druids were'nt depicted as so depraven and the leader so deformed. You have to consider how many minds you are influencing.

5 Stars because I feel 3.8 is under valued compared to most Amazon series.

In general, show and movie creators have a phobia against an all-white cast - even in an historically European context. Sure, the Romans knew of sub-Saharan Africans, but to insert them where they wouldn't have been is historical revisionism. They have no problem with portraying all-black Wakanda, all-Chinese, all-Arab, etc - but they just have to diversify 1st century Britain with some BAME actors, don't they? So is it the aforementioned historical revisionism? Is it fear of not appealing to all demographics? Is it brainwashing? We don't know for sure, but the racism is tiresome.

I would have given it 5 starts if it wasn't so disappointingly satanic at the end. The rituals at the end crossed a line which is universally unacceptable now. Viewers know and are tired of this imagery. Up until the end it was the usual blood and gore of war (listen to how conditioned I am to watching violence over the years). Whoever made these decisions have proven they are not the right vibration for future movies of the past.I enjoyed the whole movie, but now have a feeling of "yuck" over the whole project because of the last few minutes.

We enjoyed the mix of history, and action, with compelling characters and dramatic settings.
