This edition is packaged for gifting, and is ideal for Bible study groups, as well as confirmation and graduation gifts. The affordable price and compact size makes it ideal for those who like to have a copy they can take to the office, or pack conveniently in their luggage when traveling; a trusted companion for both physical and spiritual journeys. For more than 460 years, The Book of Common Prayer has been a treasured resource for those of the Episcopal faith. Within its pages, countless many have found guidance, strength, and hope. One of the major works of English literature, it has been used regularly for weddings, baptisms, and Episcopal church services since it was first published. Phrases from within the text, such as โEarth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dustโ and โTill death do us part,โ are common in many of the traditions and ceremonies celebrated today by many Christians. Every day, readers will turn to it as a map to guide them as they travel along the path of their spiritual journey; they will turn to it in times of sickness and sorrow; and it will be ever-present by their side as they celebrate joyous occasions. Review: Old-timey relevance in todayโs crazy world. - Iโm a small town farm kid who was raised Catholic. โEpiscopalโ was probably a bad word when I was a child, yet here we are. This book just arrived and Iโm not 50 pages in and although it was purchased for its historical value itโs contemporary relevance should neither be understated nor overlooked. The fun part for me is its Olde English style that imparts that โeveryday words of wisdom and hope from beyondโ vibe. Since the lot of it is about mass, this Episcopalian prayer book rings familar even to a Catholic. Itโs a good one to have, regardless of your denominational upbringing. You probably wonโt pick this one up every day but it totally belongs on your bookshelf. This is also a fairly thick copy with an average font size so your current reading glasses should work well and it feels good on a lap. Itโs not recommended for a backpack, but itโs totally fine for the home or a day on the beach. Review: Great addition to BCP library - Iโm been a critic of the books I own for several years, thatโs why I own them. This edition of the Book of Common Prayer (BCP) makes the everyday life of todayโs Episcopalian a labor of love, both for God in all forms, and for Godโs people. A very special addition to oneโs library and, ultimately, oneโs life. Quite worthwhile, even if you own another.

Not what I was looking for
This is not what I was really looking for. So the four starโs is mostly disappointment with my own decision.

Excellent Christian resource and easy to use
A wonderful book!! I have had this Book of Common Prayer for some time now and am just learning how to use it because of the class at church on devotions. The Pastor started off with teaching on the use of the Common Book of Prayer. I had no knowledge how to utilize this marvelous jewel, however, it is far easier than one would imagine. I am looking forward to using it much more often. This book is larger because it comes with The Psalter, or Psalms of David also. This makes it a larger size book. I prefer this because the text size is larger. I was able to see the beautiful leather bound BCP my Pastor has and envied it until I think of the very tiny print. I prefer to have something a little bigger so I can see the print and read it much more easily. This is still a pretty book and has all the necessary things included. And considering the price, come on, you can't go wrong.

Lol Yep itโs Big
Ok, everyone says itโs big , no , itโs Thick ! 2 1/4 in , and heavy . You wonโt be pooping it in your purse to sit and read in quiet moments . It takes some concentration. You canโt skim it . It was not what I expected . I was wanting a simple prayer book . Wanted to compare service order etc tol the Catholic Church . It is a fantastically liturgical book . If you are wanting an inspirational simple prayer book, skip this. You will need an understanding of Protestant terms . If you want to study the service order of the Episcopal . Church , here ya go ! Also side note , if there is an apocalypse, there are 5 people left , you have this book , you will be appointed the new preacher .

Worth buying for use at home
The book is considerably big and thick. But it's because the font size is big enough to read without glasses, and the text is not squeezed to save space. The paper quality is good. It's thick. And the binding allows the book to stay open on the table. It's paperback edition so understandably it's not using hard covers. For me it's perfect cause I only use it at home. I'm not member of the Episcopalian church and bought the book for its beautiful prayers
