Pretty good Headphones in my opinion
Well, originally i owned an Creative EP-630, and that Earphone alone was top notch. Compared to my old earphones and headphones that doesn't provide any noise cancelling ear buds, the Creative EP-630 had a really top of the category sound and is really worth the price. And originally buying it at the price of 7 quid, now its at 10 quid looking at how high the demand of the existing headphone created by Creative Tech. But sadly mine got broken, still works but you need to spin the earphone around and around until it starts to work again and i thought it was mainly caused by being pulled up. And was literally my own fault for sleeping while using it knowing i really move alot while asleep i probably pulled the wires connected to the earphone's causing it to malfunction. Thats when i though of buying new Earphones and said, why not try something new? then i found this JVC HAFX1X Xtreme as a recommendation. And in my opinion it is a decent headphone together with the EP 630 that i used to use. Although it has it draw backs compared to the EP 630. Mainly the HAFX1X Pro's: >Aesthetically it looks really nice together with that red and black color's >>The wire is decent in length and the wire is solid copper and pretty stiff they havent tangled that much for me so far which is good >>>The sound quality is good as well and its as good as the EP 630 >>>> Originally both this JVC HAFX1X and the the EP 630 had the same price so i guess it was just a matter of changing the prices but both earphones perform great! >>>>and the Noise cancelling works pretty well! but avoid using them while crossing the road! or riding a bicycle/motorcycle Yes i think this is a good value for money, But together with The pro's on all existing products, they will most of the time also have the Con's, but this con's are mainly things that i found after using it now for 2 weeks. Con's: >well ive read some stuff on the reviews section and did found people saying the bass is rather too much, and i guess i have to agree with this. Depending on the soundtrack's i play and mostly they are Progressive rock, Melodic Rock, Alternative Rock, Psychedelic rock, etc. etc. and mostly instrumental's mainly listening to them while walking or doing something and making the things i do (walking, reading, Jogging etc) as the vocal for t he instrumental i mostly listen. The Bass is too much that the other sound and tunes are being overshadowed by the base. Also when i do have soundtracks with vocal, again that vocal is overshadowed by the bass, you barely hear other sound since the bass is beating that hard. But in some of the tracks i listen too the Bass doesn't act up to them. >> the wire is probably too stiff and as always i try to tape the wire on the 3.5mm audio jack to avoid it being strained when accidentally being pulled or pressed, since its the main reasons why my headphones or earphones starts to stop working. Mainly because of the wire getting pulled. Its just that i feel its more prone to getting damage from the inside from getting pulled because the wire is more stiff (solid copper) and that its also stiff on the 3.5mm audio jack to wire connection. Anyways its just me, overall this Earphones are good! Currently using it but still gonna get myself a new Pair of Creative EP 630 though before that version ran's out and before its prices sky rockets! But yes both Earphones are of top quality! And ! i don't suggest using earphones listening to soothing soundtracks while falling asleep! its imminent death for the good earphones! :<

Excellent product for the price. Very loud!
Having just bought this set of earphones & played about with them for 2 days, I thought I would give them one of my typically subjective long-winded yet dispassionate reviews. I somehow lost my previously-loved Creative EP 630 earphones, which are re-badged Sennheisers, btw, so I needed something to replace the atrocious Apple earpods supplied with my iPod & to listen to & watch iPlayer TV on my Kindle Fire HD. These fit the bill precisely. The JVC plastic carton in which theyre supplied needs a chainsaw to open, as has been previously mentioned, but after 10 minutes of hacking, eventually youre presented with the product. The actual ear canal phones are default-supplied with medium sized silicon ear-inserts on, which fit my earholes perfectly, but if youve super-small or gigantic lugholes, a pair of small & larger ones are supplied. The supplied case is also jolly useful, & unlike one of the revevers pics suggests, the actual earphones do fit inside the case quite happily, along with the wire, as theres not much point in leaving the breakable bits outside the case, is there? Anyway..... The phones are a lot more durable-looking than my lost Creative/Sennheisers & the ear-canal bits go further inside my ear, so as effectively cut off outside noise & not fall out when I mow the lawn....they go in quite a long way & are supremely comfortable to wear. The wire is red. Now, never having heard of Dr. Dre, & his no-doubt super products & "music" , yet being aware of the brand through reviews of this product, I have yet to be questioned about whether or not theyre "Dres" by my septuagenarian neighbours whilst outside in the garden. The wires are twice the girth of my Creatives & Apple earphones, very robust & do not tangle & twist about themselves, which is a major plus compared to other thin-wired ones. Nor do they transmit rustly noises when touched. However, they are red, so be warned! The Sound. They are VERY LOUD. So turn down your volume before playing a track, then crank it up to taste. The base is punchy but not overtly overwhelming & drums particularly crisp & noticeable & the sound drills into your head very nicely, with good stereo separation. The higher frequency sounds are a tad exaggerated & marginally rough at full volume to my taste and the way these phones have been configured clearly muddies the midrange a bit. I used to be an audiophile, with fancy hifi setup & so on & highly critical, but Im not so fussy now. But hey.....theyre 13 quid right now & you can always adjust the equalizer on your device to compensate, cant you? Ive been assured by my wife that theres no external sound leakage also, even with the volume at 11. These things really go quite far into your ear, & probably also loosen any irritating earwax problem you may have, eventually, so thats another plus. On my Kindle Fire HD watching TV programmes, the sound settles down, turned to mediumish & the ambient sounds in the production are faithfully produced & the stereo stunningly rendered. Im very pleased with this purchase, & believe me, they beat the Creative 630s hands down in the budget stakes, stay in your ear whilst mowing the lawn & probably when running. I wouldnt know about the latter as I dont think running is a good idea unless youre being pursued by a zombie, but thats just me. For the price, an excellent choice, & the funky little box they supply means you shouldnt really lose them in your bag, if you remember to take the little box with you, that is. All in all, an excellent product at a very reasonable price.

Pleasantly Surprised With These!
Bought these earphones as my last, rather expensive pair were put through the washing machine and broke.. Packaging: The packaging is actually very reasonable for earphones of this price. They come in a heat sealed plastic package (the one that is a pain to open) but at least you know they are sealed in there well. They are further enclosed in the carry case which is pictured. Accessories: The earphones, as mentioned, come with a solid, very strong plastic case. This seems really durable and would certainly keep the earphones safe from everyday life. There are 3 sets of earbuds that come with the earphones, they are of good quality. I tried to rip one of them just as a test, I couldn't do it! If they got a small nick or cut in them of any sort, due to the nature of the rubber, they would tear very easily however. Sound Quality: I was actually rather surprised with the quality of these earphones. I tried them with 3 different devices: HTC 8S with Beats Audio: (mp3 format) I tried a range of tracks with varying levels of bass, mids and very high treble ranges. They performed very well. On the more 'bassy' House/Dance tracks i could really feel the bass kick when i turned them up. It also performed well when i played a more classical/opera style track. It was nowhere near hi-fi quality, but it did well. HP Envy Laptop with Beats audio: (WAV, FLAC) The sound from my laptop playing more high quality audio files was noticeably better. It always is though. I did a comparison test with the same track, played in both mp3 and FLAC. The flac file surprised me so much! These little earphones really pack a punch in a range of music! Custom PC running Realtek audio chipset: (mp3, FLAC) The sound from my pc using the on-board audio was noticeably poorer, these buds just don't seem to match well with lower end audio chipsets. Verdict: For someone who usually only likes higher end earphones, I am pleased to say that these are really good 'bang for the buck.' Especially heavy bass, great for people who are especially into their 'banging tracks' (pardon the lack of jargon) but overall i would say these are a recommended budget buy!

Big sound for the money
I went from the headphones that came with my iPod, to a set of low-level JVC's and then finally to these. For a start, these headphones look like they should be about £50 rather than £15 as they are very well made and robust. The little "XX" on each earbud make them look like a quality item, which they most certainly are. One thing that I also noticed when I put them on for the first time is just how much louder they are than my previous headphones. With my old JVC's I had the volume almost all the way up, which seems to compare to about a quarter volume with these. They pump the sound into your head furiously when turned up, and I could not notice any stutter or background buzz, which I found in my Apple headphones when turned up high. The bass is really rich and heavy with these headphones, which prompted me to go back and listen to some of my old songs to see what I had been missing out on. These headphones seem to revamp your songs and show you how they really should sound. The headphones are really comfy, and after an initial half-hour bedding in period they fitted perfectly. These headphones come with a range of sizes of the rubber that goes into the ear, which is handy if you have ears like dinner plates. I settled for the "medium" sized rubbers, and they have not slipped or fallen out since purchase. I found these headphones to be really effective when running and cycling, as they do not slip at all, and the noise cancelling blocks out most of the noise around you, to let you get on with whatever you are doing uninterrupted. The sound is really rich, with the treble and middle being surprisingly good for such bass-heavy headphones. Overall I would recommend these headphones to anyone, as they seem to suit all styles of music. I would defiantly go for these over a pair of Beats (which I have tried and couldn't find any improvement except maybe the treble, which is outstanding), as they are a hell of a lot cheaper and perform almost as well. I would buy these if you are looking for a pair of cheap headphones which perform as well as high-end alternatives.

Average
I listen to a lot of dance music on my iPhone and am therefore constantly on the lookout for earbuds that produce a lot of low-end grunt. I do not believe in spending top dollar for earbuds and so won't entertain Klipsch/ Shure / Westone etc. as I reckon that the same sound quality can be achieved at a fraction of the cost. Reproduction of kick drums and sub-bass are massive factors for me when choosing earbuds so upon discovery of the HAFX1X I purchased a pair instantly. These JVCs are well in budget at £15 and seemed too good to be true. Massive 10mm drivers and big ports all suggested that these earbuds were going to be my perfect companion. Most of the other reviews I've read online seem to really rate these earbuds. I do not. Some other reviews seem to think that the bass is overpowering at the expense of mid and high. I couldn't disagree more. They do have good bass reproduction, probably the best I've heard, but at the other end of the audio spectrum they are dire. I would suggest at the whole 4kHz to 8kHz region [i.e. high mid / treble] the sound is so bright it almost hurts. I've tried the EQ settings on my iPhone but none of them really do what I want them to. Perhaps Android phones have a manual EQ and may be tweaked to greater effect? Either way, I'm left with a sound that does kick at the bottom end but with a really harsh tinny high hat [or whatever] which draws all attention away from the other frequencies. To conclude, the key points for the HAFX1X are: Pros Loads of bass They feel robust and well-made Cons Overall sound is uncomfortable because higher freqs are so prominent The carry case is useless - they barely fit inside They would fall out in under 30 seconds if I used them in the gym If you are looking for a decent cheap[ish] pair of earbuds to blast your ears with bass, my favourite so far are the Pioneer Bass Head SE CL721. Although they don't quite have a much bass as the JVCs, they sound much sweeter and still reproduce low freqs to my required standard. They also sit in my ears better.

Great set of Headphones
I have long awaited a new set of earphones to replace my previous ones, which are i have to say, in a pretty poor state with only one ear bud working. When the JVC's arrived i was impressed with the packaging, really good first impressions. Upon opening i immediately plugged them in to my Laptop and gave them a go. BRILLIANT. Really good sound quality with deep base and a really deep strong sound, whichever genre you choose to listen to. I listen to various genres of music, but to really give them a blast i put on some drum and base and i was astounded with them. But to make sure they were a good universal earphones i tried some softer music and i found that, when you have a good set of earphones (like these ones) you hear different instruments which you don't realise were there which was very impressive. I use my earphones everyday and i have to say i do put them through a lot. I like my music loud, however i try not to make it too loud that people start to give me disapproving looks. The earphones work well in all of my music devices, i use my phone and my IPod. If i was going to criticise i would say that the earphones give better quality when they are plugged into my IPod than my phone, but it is hardly noticeable and my phone is not the best of models- This is me being very critical. The earphones are also very aesthetically pleasing, with the strong red cable and the big, bold buds which fit perfectly in your ear. I did have someone comment on them recently asking me where i got them because they look so great. In the box as well, you also get a nice little case which i don't really use because it takes time to put the headphones in, more time than usual because the case is perhaps slightly too small, however, again this could just be me being lazy and critical. But to add to that, the case does look great and i can see why you would use it. To conclude, these are are really good quality earphones for a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend purchasing these JVC Xtreme's. They do there job better than any of my previous earphones and i will continue to wear them until they finally give up on me, which i suspect will be a while from now. Thanks for reading, all the best.

Amazing Sound Quality and Bass
The cable is nice and thick so it just feels like its got better quality and it doesn't flex and fold as much as cheap earphone cables which is good. It fits perfectly in your ear and is really comfortable for hours of use. It has very good noise isolation, it isnt perfect but you can reduce the noise of walking past a heavily congested junction with barely a muffled noise which you don't even notice with the music playing at a relatively low volume. The Bass is simply unmatched by any other earphones I've come across. I normally have to turn down the bass because it can sometimes prevent me from making out the lyrics because of the heavy bass beat in the background. But if you want Bass, these will certainly not disappoint. Recently though one of the rubber ear pieces began to come loose, so i glued them both on so they don't fall off in the future, but it comes with a box that you can store the headphones in - but that's kind of tedious because you kind of need to cram the wiring into the box and it isnt practical for storing it away like that every other hour or so. All in all, Nice Design, Amazing performance, Comfortable, Lives up to its Xtreme Bass Unique Selling Point & Good Build Quality. September 2013 Update: My second pair of these earphones have stopped working as you have to move the wire at the port end of the cable in a certain position to retain the exceptional audio quality. As both of my earphones stopped working after 10-11 months of use, (note that I am not reckless with them) I think it is safe to say that these headphones are made to last about a year and then break so we buy another pair from JVC - A suspected obsolescence method to make us buy it again and again. These earphones are absolutely great but my next pair will not be these, hopefully the next pair will last more than a year.

Unrecommendable
There are many positive experiences that people have had with the JVC HAFX1X Xtreme Xplosives In Ear Canal Headphones , as evidenced by the many high scoring reviews on Amazon. It's certainly what persuaded me to purchase them. However, whilst they may be cheap, these headphones do not escape the rule that you pay for what you get. The positives of this product is that, to its credit, it does have an amazing bass driver and it does come with a fairly sturdy carry case that other manufacturers might not throw in for the price. For this, the price seems more than tempting. The red coating of the wire and the black protruding buds could cause people to easily mistake these for Beats; the jack itself is coated in gold giving an impression of high craftsmanship and quality. So far, sounds like a fantastic deal for less than £10, no? Well it seems like the maxim that 'if its too good to be true, it usually is' holds for these headphones. When I opened up the packaging, I noticed that wire were coated in a layer of grease or some other lubricant that must have been either the result of the manufacturing process or a method to prevent the tangling of the wire, which should have been my first red flag. Secondly, the quality of the rubber used for the actual buds themselves was of a really cheap standard meaning that they crinkle and crackle when inserted into your ear, distort the music from the driver to your eardrum, feel incredible uncomfortable and irritating to use, and are frequent to falling out of your ears even when the wire is wrapped around your ear to prevent the weight of the wire from being a factor. Furthermore, the earpiece design is still circular at a time when other brands have realised that oval or a form fitting shape are endlessly more comfortable, allow the bud to adhere to the shape of the ear better to prevent it from slipping out and overall a much more sensible design. The sound quality is adequate to good if the buds are pushed right against my eardrums, the bass is very audible, but the tone has suffered from this, meaning that mid to highs are less notable than the low downs. So if you're someone who enjoys a variety of different genres, you're likely to be disappointed by some aspects of the EQ, though it is suitable for dubstep or other bass-heavy genres. The clarity of the sound, however, suffers too. Bose and Seinnheisers (even Audio Technica!) are much more recommendable in this respect. Whether you are an audiophile or someone looking for some cheap throwaway headphones, I recommend you continue your search instead of taking the reviews here as gospel as I did. Fact is, that whilst the JVC HAFX1X Xtreme Xplosives In Ear Canal Headphones may have value in the quality of it's bass delivery, it fails in many other regards. Instead, for those searching for inexpensive headphones, I recommend the cheaper and much more comfortable Panasonic RP-HJE 120 E1-K black (though they may not have the bass of the JVC HAFX1X Xtreme Xplosives In Ear Canal Headphones , they're overall a better quality purchase), and for those searching for incredible sound quality and the build to match, I recommend that you look instead at the Sennheiser CX 200 Street II - Comfortable Ear-canal Phones with Bass Driven Sound - Black (which have fantastic bass reproduction and is only an extra and incredibly worthwhile £10).
