Plain Jane Part
Got this for a 2000 F250 (V10 4wd) to replace a dead/leaking OEM damper. This truck is a utility tool so no need for fancy hi-po part. Made in the USA Monroe (not adverse to offshore manufactured aftermarket parts and these days that's where they mostly come from: Asia) So once it stops raining, off to the install rodeo. Work safe my DIY friends, DB! **Install tip, wire brush/clean stationary side u-bracket and use some Windex on rubber bushing cause it's a tight fit! otherwise a quick install. Update: I didn't realize how toasted the old unit was until I had to go to town (live in BFE) and wow what an improvement in steering feel!!!

Good replacement for stock
Improved the steering feel of my old 02 F350 tremendously! I had changed shocks, ball joints, tie rod ends, did an alignment, but it still tended to wander. That vintage super duty trucks all wandered in my experience, but mine was excess. This damper is bigger diameter than stock and did a good job of reducing that wandering a sizeable amount. I had to re-position the clamp slightly on the drag link to keep the larger body from hitting it and managed to get a straighter pull so the bushings didn't flex as much side to side. Except for dealing with rusty fasteners wasn't much of a problem. It may not be the first choice for a die-hard 4-wheeler or those with lots of cash to burn, but as a stock replacement on a good-ol everyday pickem-up truck, it is fine.

Didn’t last a year !
3 stars might be too many. This didn’t even last a year…..matter fact it only lasted about 9 months. I got it for my 2002 Ford Excursion. That’s a 3/4 ton chassis and weighs 9,000lbs. We do a lot of camping and towing. I probably should have gotten a heavier duty more expensive one but I thought I’d give this a try. It’s been leaking for quite a while now and is all worn out. I ordered a tough country for $70 and I’m certain that one will last. If you have a light duty or even medium duty truck you’d probably do fine, but anything else I would t recommend this product.

Fits 2001 f350
Although the tube is about 1.5" longer than the factory shock, this works for my 2001 F350, verified after turning the wheel the max in both directions after the install. Since I replaced all the other shocks recently, I decided to change this out since I had never changed it and the truck has 178,000 miles on it. I decided on this one since it utilized the factory mounts, rather than the KYB unit I bought that had its own weaker looking mount that I returned.
