Great Boots
I ordered these Merrell Men's Speed Strike 2 Mid Waterproof Shoes for my husband for Christmas. He had been wearing an old pair of work boots for hiking for the last three years and needed something new. The Merrell brand has worked well for me for hiking, so he was happy to try this men's version of my boots. The boots are comfortable and very sturdy, a well-made shoe! They are listed as waterproof, but he hasn't actually tested that out yet. His feet don't feel sweaty, though, so the boots breathe very well. The traction is great and makes such a difference compared to his old boots. We hike the North Georgia mountains, so we need something that keeps us steady. The sizing was perfect, no pinching, tightness, or any discomfort whatsoever. There's just the right amount of room in the toe box. The shoes give great support all over, but in the arch area too. They were a bit stiff at the start, but as with any shoe or boot, they have loosened up a bit over time. We are happy with the olive green color, and the boots themselves are attractive-looking. Very glad to have continued our tradition with Merrell hiking boots.

Comfortable and Lightweight Waterproof Boots
I’ve been very happy with these boots. They’re lightweight, comfortable, and have a good amount of support without feeling bulky like some mid-height boots. The waterproofing is a big plus for wet conditions, and the traction has been solid on different surfaces. They were comfortable with minimal break-in and work well for long periods of walking or standing. Overall, a great combination of comfort, traction, and waterproof protection for everyday use, work, and outdoor activities.

Excellent for traveling in Europe which is what I used them for.
Very comfortable hiking boots/shoes. Bought these because they are waterproof and being a hiking shoe it gives me ankle support. Recently put them to the test on a European trip for almost 3 weeks. No off trail hiking but lots of walking on cobblestone streets and sidewalks. They were extremely comfortable right out of the box, no need for breaking in period. They are/were waterproof since my feet stayed dry during rains. I was a little worried they might get hot inside but they didn’t. I wore a light to medium weight merino wool socks which I believe helped tremendously. They look nice with pretty much everything. Can wear with jeans or like I did with Kuhl pants in a dark gray and medium khaki color. Very versatile. Highly recommended.

Very Good Boots.
These are very good boots. I can’t say great because the materials are not as durable as what you would get with, say, a Merrill Moab. But these cost less. To me, the boots could be classified as light-duty hiking boots or as heavy-duty urban walking boots. I like the second classification better. There is just enough cushioning to ease the impacts on hard surfaces like asphalt or concrete. They seem to fit a bit large, maybe 1/2 US size too large, and I had to size down. For me they are very comfortable, and so far they’ve served me well.

Solid buy!
Just wore them on a 5 mile hike with a variety of terrain, sandy and packed dirt trail, rocky and bolder sections as well as a blacktop road, extremely comfortable!! Roomy toe box too. They boots dont feel like they lace up tight, however they absolutely feel like enough support while allowing movement. Super happy with my first Merrell purchase.

Worth the extra money
There are a few areas where spending a little extra is almost always worth it, and shoes is definitely one of them. I got a pair of cheaper high top hiking boots first and my feet were killing me after wearing them for several hours and being on my feet. After getting over the regret of buying the cheap ones first, I got these and the difference is night and day. They’re so much more comfortable and I can be on my feet all day in these and forget I’m wearing them. They’re well made, as you’d expect from Merrell, waterproof to just above the ankle, fit perfectly, and I think they look great. Worth every penny. Would 100% buy them again.

super uncomfortable insoles
These are great boots with the absolute worst insoles. They are super uncomfortable compared to the many pairs of Merrell hiking boots I have purchased. However if you can swap out the insoles these boots are great. Swapping the insoles out for a layer tissue paper would be an improvement. Not sure how much hiking is getting done in these. That being said they are super stylish and as soon as they had new insoles they were perfect.

Not waterproof, they are water resistant
I purchased these boots for some light walking. I hike quite often and have Scarpa for my walking boots. I find these boots to be comfortable straight out the box, lightweight with medium grip, although not great on slippery surfaces. They are not waterproof, they are water resistant. I now use these boots for walking the dog, and my feet always get wet from grass due. I would class these boots as fair weather walking (not hiking) boots. I wouldn’t purchase them again.

Merrell boots at a sensible price
My partner loves Merrell hiking shoes and boots. He finds them an excellent fit and robust enough to cope with all the rough dog trails and home handy work he does. These boots give him the extra ankle support and protection without compromising on comfort or grip.
