A classic collection if you love classic RPG video games.
Nice to have all the classic 2D FF games on one cartridge. It also fixes some of the flaws of the older ones, such as how slow battles were originally, and with options like a suspend save, and the custom option menu ability to get more experience points, and money from battles it allows the games to become less grindy. There is also an option to temporarily turn off random enemy encounters. (But remember you need to battle to level up, so don't rely on it too much.)Also, includes some art galleries, and a neat music player. One minor nitpick is, unlike other collection games on Switch, this one doesn't have a "Pick a game" main menu, and instead splits the 6 games up into 6 different thumbnails on your Switch interface, which might annoy some gamers. Other than that it is a great collection to have, and a good way to catch up on the series, or to start the series on. (I recommend playing 4, or 6 first, but you can play in any order, as the games aren't linked much, and have new characters each game, so they can stand alone.)The new graphics, and music are nice, though there is an option to use the original 8-bit or 16-bit music if you prefer. Unfortunately no option to see the original graphics.Regardless, it's highly recommended, and a good start for those getting into the games.

Retro childhood reborn on switch
Great collection of classic turn based final fantasy games. It’s like reliving my childhood as a 41 year old with the convenience of playing on switch. All these games are classic and fun. If you like turn based rpgs you’ll love this. Action rpg fans may want to stay with the more modern final fantasy series. Can we get more classic square soft and other RPGs from the same era also remastered or remade.

As it says, Classic collection of past Final Fantasy games that I just wanted to have a physical disk for. Very happy and have been pointing everyone I know cares to get it here.

Can't beat it with a stick!
Great game to relive that good Ole days. Was entertaining and something easy to play while down range. They have cheats to make it easier if you want to progress the game a bit faster.

Amazing collection of amazing games
I played a couple of the original games and I absolutely love the pixel remasters so far. I have already beaten FF1 and FF2 and the new features (auto battle, encounters on/off) have made a huge difference in my ability to enjoy the story. The music is great, and overall the stories are fun and nostalgic. I would say even at full price this is worth it for the amount of potential playtime you get.

Classic RPGs with Quality-of-Life Improvements
⭐ Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster – Long-Term Player ReviewI purchased the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection about three months ago, but I wanted to spend real time with it before leaving a review. So far, I’ve completed Final Fantasy I, III, IV, and VI, and I’m currently working through II and V.After many hours across the collection, I can say this is a worthwhile purchase for anyone looking to get into the Final Fantasy franchise, whether you’re brand new or a longtime fan.🎮 A Classic Collection, Modernized the Right WayHaving originally played these games on their original cartridges and consoles, I was curious how well they would hold up. The answer: surprisingly well — and in many ways, better than ever. There are a lot of smart quality-of-life improvements that make these classic RPGs far more enjoyable today without stripping away what made them special. One of the best examples is in Final Fantasy III. In the original version, the final boss gauntlet had no save point, meaning if you lost late in the sequence, you could lose hours of progress. The addition of a quick save feature dramatically reduces the frustration and stress of these long endgame sections while still keeping the challenge intact.⚙️ Quality-of-Life Features That Actually MatterTwo features I didn’t expect to use much — but ended up loving — were:No EncountersAuto BattleThe no encounters option makes long dungeons far more manageable, especially when you’re trying to explore, solve puzzles, or conserve resources. The auto-battle feature speeds up many of the more repetitive fights and grinding sessions, cutting down on monotony without removing the strategic elements of boss battles.Yes, these features can make the games easier — but more importantly, they make them more respectful of your time.⚔️ Difficulty – Easier, But Not EasyThe games did feel somewhat easier than I remembered, though it’s hard to say whether that’s because of experience or if Square Enix slightly adjusted the difficulty curve. That said, these are not easy games, especially Final Fantasy I and III. There were still several difficulty spikes that required me to stop and grind levels for hours before progressing. The challenge is still very much alive.💰 Value for the PriceI purchased the collection on a Black Friday sale for $35, which was an excellent deal — especially since I already own multiple versions of these games. However, if you are new to Final Fantasy and this is your first time owning these titles, I honestly think the regular price of $60–$70 is fair, considering how much content is included and how well these classics have been preserved.💾 Physical Release Done RightA big shout-out to Square Enix:All of the games are on the cartridge. No downloads required. That’s increasingly rare in today’s market, and it’s a huge plus for collectors and preservation-minded gamers.

Good Improvements in This Upgrade
I have been a Final Fantasy fan for many years and played most of these games in their original form. It's not just the pixel upgrade that makes it better. The characters are able to level up faster and have abilities added that make playing easier and better. The originals moved slowly and it took a long time to level up. This development was immediately apparent to me and I found it enhanced my enjoyment of playing. One died off too quickly before if you ended up in a dungeon that seemed to go on forever. The changes are made to bring the game play more into line with the structure of today's games, where the player expects to move along at a steady pace and accomplish the goals without constantly dying and having to start over again. It was definitely worth buying. I expected all games would be on one disc since the originals didn't use a lot of space. It wasn't until FF7 that these games expanded to multi disc, so we can appreciate how some rewriting made the first ones attractive again.
