Will this speaker fit a Bose 51 outdoor speaker?

It will fit physically, but the Bose original was a 4-ohm, instead of 1-ohm. If you have a pair, check the impedance of the other speaker. Both should be the same. I had to go to eBay to find a 4-ohm.

is the foam surround on these the new style that lasts longer and if so how many years is it good for?

The speaker works great, sounds as good as new to me. I expect the foam and the rest to last longer by keeping them dry and out of the winter weather. The environment makes the difference.
