fitted and worked well to convert LED bulbs from small eddison screw fitting to eddison screw fitting allowing more general use to be made of the low energy bulbs.

Didn't work out of the box

It didn't work until I poked around a bit, so I wouldn't recommend it to someone who wanted to just "plug and play" It needs screwing in too tight for someone handling a fragile glass bulb. I think this is due to it being a safety fitting that doesn't close the contact circuit until a lamp is screwed in. Safe maybe, but too safe, if it doesn't actually illuminate the bulb!
