I've only ever had robots that auto empty and have a passive mopping system. After getting a puppy and the mess associated with it I decided to upgrade and bought this Dreame. I only have carpet in the bedrooms and hall, the rest is hard flooring. The vacuum has incredible suction even on the lowest setting. I vacuum once during the day and at night I vacuum and mop. It's much quieter than my old robots despite the power. The navigation is good and the obstacle avoidance is brilliant and means I don't have to worry about items on the floor. When it mops it automatically lifts up the side brush so as not to get it dirty. I always make it vacuum and mop afterwards to ensure the roller and bin stay clean and dry. The carpet performance is really good - the only negative being the fact that the side brush doesn't operate. I find that means it can end up leaving detritus along the skirting boards. The mopping is AMAZING! I also have a Dreame cordless wet and dry mop vacuum and this X40 Ultra cleans the floor even better than that does and it's a dedicated floor cleaner! It comes with tons of extra accessories such as bags, brushes, rollers and filters. The cleaning fluid that comes with it is amazing. It has only used half a small tank of it in a month and even when you empty the dirty brown water it smells only of the cleaning fluid. I'm genuinely go smacked how long it has lasted. The other feature I love is the clean genius mode. If it detects the floor is especially dirty it will return back to it after cleaning it's pads and clean the area again. This ensures it's always giving the best performance. The one thing I wish is if you could use the clean genius mode just for vacuuming, so it picks up more when it detects a lot of detritus (like cat litter) The self cleaning base is also really good and it's surprising how mucky it gets after a few days, but then the assisted base cleaning function makes it easy to maintain too. The mops are always dry and clean after they've been used so they're always cleaning with a dirt free mop. They seem to have thought of everything with this robot and you can adjust absolutely every setting. It reaches into corners not only with the side brush, making sure all corners are clean it also does the same with the mop pad meaning it can clean under the appliances and furniture so you get a more thorough and visible clean. No it's not cheap but you get what you pay for and I don't think there's many alternatives at this price that matches this yet alone beats it.

Oh what a fabulous bit of kit this is, expensive but my floors have never been so clean and i have to deal with the fallout from six messy parrots every day! it does the job first time and automatically has another go if it detects an unclean area, lots of software controls to fiddle with if you like all that or you can just let the CleanGenius make all the decisions for you. it works perfectly and its QUIET too, knocks spots off my old Roomba and i've always had iRobot machines for well over 20 years in the past... no more, its Dreamhome all the way now. highly recommended.

Only worked for a few months before it would no longer connect to the WiFi. As the device needs a constant internet connection this means the product no longer works at all. Called company and arranged repair, 2 months later still no device returned, called for refund and was told they could only offer a 70% refund. Dreame confirmed the issue is known with this device and they still sell it. Scam, avoid at all cost.

Expensive but worth it - especially when bought on sales. Easily out performs both our Dyson and Shark manual (human operated) vacuum cleaners. PROS: Exceptional hoovering ability, good power. Very quiet to use*, except on max power. App a delight to use - even my kids have programmed different functions for difference days. Programme and forget feature ideal for daily hoovering* Quickly established herself as a family member, with the kids giving her a name. CONS: Side brush not effect under lip of kitchen cupboard doors. Completely ineffective auto detect for different floorplans - for different levels - you do need to manually tell the device in the app that you've moved it to another level. Heavy to carry base unit from one level to another. Often gets blocked in very dirty environments. Great for wooden floors, not so great for tiles where streaking too evident. Regular changing of pads brushes etc are required, which can be expensive. **Too many notifications to qualify for the programme and forget concept - almost every aspect of every task is notified to your phone and spoken aloud. Not ideal if hoovering during the night. This could be forgiven if it wasn't for the EXCEPTIONALLY ANNOYING LOUD VOICE. The voice is of an overly synthetic female sounding voice which is gratingly chirpy. Not quite happy, just exuberantly confident and smugly annoying. Think Bixby meets HAl meets Psycho - if Norman Bates was female, this would be her voice. Having said all that, I would buy another one for upstairs, if Dreame give us the ability to change its voice.

All the reviewers are correct, amazing navigation, mopping, tech, camera, etc. etc... All great. This device does not work however when you have a predominantly carpeted home as is common in the UK. It is designed to primarily deal with hard floors that might have a rug here and there. Specifically what does not work is: -brush roller is only half the width of the device. This leaves a large gap against any wall where it can't hoover (while on carpet). If on hard floor, it will extend the robot arm and reach every corner, which is amazing. But does not work on fully carpeted floors -dirt bin is tiny size as it is designed for a few crumbs from hard floors. If you have it run on carpets alone, the fluff build up will clog this thing in 2 minutes. -because it is designed to be used without much fluff, it relies on the base to empty itself. Cleaning the tiny bin by hand is yucky as it has a little trap door that you have to hold up with one hand while dragging the fluff out with your other so will return this amazing machine because i live in the wrong house / country.

I love this vacuum. When you first get it, you follow it and watch the camera constantly. You can put a can of drink on it and drive it into another room, then use the speaker to talk to the person. I've had a few vacuums. Some are a bit dumb, some are smart, but none as smart as this one. I'm struggling with the Alexa integration, though. I would take a star off, but it deserves six stars anyway. Some features would be amazing if they could still add to the software, and that would be adding a room back that was missed or queue tasks. They already added the ability to clean an extra room on the fly. Doing all of this by voice would be good with a breakdown of what's left to do. But I'm trying to perfect perfection, it's point and go. Due to the obstacle detection, I should note this vacuum gets stuck less than any I've had before it.
