What type of memory card does the expansion pack take, and how large?

The iPaq 5555 expansion pack (sold separately) accepts full size PC Card style cards (the full credit-card-sized cards also known as PCMCIA cards). In that slot, you can insert almost any size memory card from PCMCIA sized and smaller. Smaller sizes, like Compact Flash (CF) and Secure Digital (SD) cards would require an adapter.

No, this device does not a have SIM card module. It does have a speaker and microphone, so could potentially make internet-based (VOIP) calls using an app on a WiFi connection. However, I don't know what apps are available for this Pocket PC device. If your primary goal is to make calls, this wouldn't be the best option, in my opinion. Otherwise, it is a great Pocket PC device, well ahead of its time, that still has features not available in today's smartphones. Thanks for your interest!
