One month review - this one is the keeper
I evaluated 3 different robots in my house, the first was Dreame X40 Ultra, the second is this one, and the third was Ecovacs X5 Pro Omni. The first thing I evaluated was navigation - the base station location in my house is kind of cornered by a large dining room table with 12 chairs around it. Navigating out of this area (or underneath it when it's time to clean that area under the table) is a pretty critical skill for my house. This is where the Dreame X40 Ultra started to piss me off. It was constantly getting confused by the table and chair legs, pausing for long periods of time and trying to determine what to do. It would often "give up" on the task and just return to base telling me mission accomplished, when it hadn't even begun to clean! In addition, cleaning the whole was very inefficient, and would take f o r e v e r. As a contrast, the Eufy S1 Pro is very efficient. It's obstacle avoidance for stationary objects is amazing. It navigates its way around, and next to almost everything, and just finds ways to continue the cleaning path without getting confused. Its cleaning path itself is very clear, and is executed fast and without any hesitations. The roller mop provides excellent coverage compared to the other 2 robots' duo rotating mops, which often leaves uncovered areas. Its edge cleaning is sufficient, though not perfect, and has improved vastly once I set the obstacle avoidance level in the app to its least sensitive setting. Its mopping is great, and feels very similar to my upright Eufy v1 Mach Ultra which is a very good mopper. The existence of an onboard dirty water tank on the robot and the fact the brush continuously self-cleans itself, is a standout feature compared to almost all other robots, and it allows the robot to return to base much less often, thus further improving the efficiency. It also means it deals with wet stains better, although if you expect it to be able to absorb meaningful amounts of spilled fluids, it's not going to happen. The reason is that unlike the upright mop, the robot separates between the dirty water tank (which is basically the dirty water continuously being extracted from the roller using a squeegee), and the vacuum, which has its own dust bin, and that one needs to stay dry. So no suction of fluids, but still better at mopping wet stains than any of the other robots out there. The vacuuming is also good, although I wouldn't say this is its stand out feature - there are probably better vacuuming robots out there, so if vacuuming is what you mostly care about - I would give other robots a second look. I don't use it with my room carpets, only an area rug in the living room, which it can handle easily. Apart from that, the only real problem I faced with this robot is that there is a specific bathroom mat we use which for some robot this robot tried to vacuum and ends up sucking it to its vacuum port, getting the robot stuck and in need of manual assistance to get untangled. I worked around it by placing a small bathroom stool to block the robot from going over this mat. I could have also placed a virtual barrier in the app that it won't cross. Final word - I had the X5 Pro Omni in my house last week and I had some high hopes, but I returned it right after the fist cleaning. Main reason: the robot got completely tangled in the fringes of my area rug to a point I had to manual untangle it multiple times. Unlike the bathroom mat, I can't really avoid this rug if I want it properly vacuumed, so it seems like a non starter for me. In summary, after having seen all 3 robots in action, I think the Eufy S1 Pro stands out big time on most features, including its mopping, cleaning efficiency, obstacle avoidance, and navigation. Its base station is also great, as it self cleans, empties dirty water, washing mops, and refill clean water - all fully automated. Its noise level is probably not its best trait, although completely manageable IMO, as it's only loud for brief periods of time when the base self-cleans (about 2-3 minutes at the end). Vacuuming at max level will probably also be quite loud, but I use the lower, standard suction setting.

OVER HYPED! READ!!!
I've owned a lot of robots both vacuum and vacuum mop over the years, and I was excited to try this one out due to what's unique mopping system that isn't seen many other robots, however, I think the hype of these units is just that. These units have a ton of glitches and bugs, and they've been out long enough that they should be taking care of unsolved but it seems that the manufacturer is taking their sweet time in addressing a lot of the small issues that add up to make it a poor experience that I don't think the pros are worth the trade-offs of the cons at this price point especially. Currently my flagship model and workhorse is the dreame x40 ultra and after trying this s1 pro robot out, I will be purchasing another x40 ultra for our basement and sending the s1 pro back. The mopping system is no better than the x40 ultra despite the advertising, I ran side by side tests on an equally dirty floor after our large wet dogs ran across them, and I used a clean white paper towel to wipe the floor afterwards on both sides and they were dead even, I believe that the mop pads on the x40 ultra will become overloaded with dirt and need to be washed at the base station about the same time the s1 pro will run out of water and have to go back to get more from the base station, so there's not really an advantage to the roller like you would think. Another issue with the roller is the very small contact patch with the ground that I don't see anybody talking about, it's pencil thin, and so unless the robot is moving very very slow, the amount of time that there is a mop on the ground scrubbing on anyone's surface is very low compared to the spinning mops of the x40 ultra that are much larger and are obviously scrubbing for a much longer amount of time while making contact with the ground at the same movement speed. The detergent in the x40 ultra is refillable with your choice of detergent, awesome feature that saves a lot of money being able to buy gallons of floor cleaner and it uses it conservatively, the s1 pro requires you to buy proprietary cartridges which I was not aware of when purchasing, that alone is enough to send it back due to obsolescence of if the manufacturer stopped selling them, and being locked into a niche product line from one brand. Replacement components for the x40 ultra see much more readily available and cheaper as in mop pads bags and filters etc since they seem to be shared throughout many of the common form factor mopping robots on the market from various brands. You have to go avoidance isn't necessarily bad on the s1 pro compared to the x40 ultra, the issue really lies in the software, the amount of options that you have to choose from is disappointingly small, there's so many obvious features that should be there coming from the x40 ultra app that it makes it seem like it's 2008 again and iRobot is what we're dealing with. The mapping is super fast on the s1 pro since it seems to almost 3D scan the room as it moves around and can pick up a pretty good picture of the room after very little movement, but it's thought processes of when it maps and when it changes due to new obstacles etc and just the general interaction of the robot is frustrating, slow, and confusing, inputs at the base station compared to the app don't seem to sync up so if you start the robot at the base station and then go into the app it doesn't seem to reflect in the app that the robot is actually out cleaning and there's no way to stop the robot from the app or really interact with it. I found multiple times where I've initiated settings in the app and then when you click save it doesn't actually save the settings and there's no way to actually implement changes to certain settings. We also have anti-stress / fatigue mats in our kitchen and they are about a half inch thick with a tapered edge, there's no way to distinguish in the s1 pro app to have it mop these, it thinks they are carpeting and the only way to get them to mop them is to turn on the carpet mopping feature which leaves our carpet soaking wet and we don't want that, there's no way to set up individual zones to have different settings, it just applies apparent setting to the global use case for the entire mopping / vacuuming setting. There's also no way to make it vacuum and then mop, you either have to make it vacuum, or vacuum and mop at the same time which gets the brushes wet and causes dirt to stick to them, this is a very basic feature that should be able to be implemented. The s1 pro also does a terrible job at edge cleaning, like shockingly bad, we had lots of debris from our dogs running in the yard around the edges underneath the reveal / toe kicks of our cabinets, I've never seen dirt there after the x40 ultra has deployed, but the s1 pro literally stays back at least an inch to 3 in in some spots no matter what settings I change, and since the roller for the mop is inset slightly it's in some spots almost 4 in where there's no mopping, and the bristles don't get underneath from the side sweepers to pull the dirt into the path of the shockingly tiny vacuum bar, leaving dirt all around underneath the toe kicks of our cabinets, I deployed the x40 ultra afterwards and it got every single speck of dirt from underneath the toe kicks that the s1 pro left behind. The efficiency is very poor on the s1 pro as well because the vacuum bar is so much smaller than the mop bar, it has to overlap its passes by almost 50% in order to have full vacuum bar coverage. The x40 ultra has no problem mopping the anti-fatigue mats, and with the side swing mop and the retractable side sweeper bristles, there is almost no scenario, space, or corner that I have seen the x40 ultra not be able to get dirt out of or mop up to come and it gets way closer to table legs and chair legs. The s1 pro might be good if you have like a warehouse or something that's wide open and has nothing on the floors and you just want to mop primarily the central area quite well, I think it might excel in that, but in most households, especially one that's busy that regularly is receiving Amazon packages, doesn't always get the chairs pushed in around the table, has pets running around etc, the s1 pro has an anemic approach at tackling objects and mopping close to them, where the x40 ultra seems to regularly detect people walking around and pets etc as well as newly placed objects like backpacks and whatnot, and it manages to navigate around them and more importantly remap on the fly and clean around them tight up against them every single time without a hiccup. The x40 ultra also is very good at not falling down the stairs, where's the s1 pro in order to get it to go closer to the edges of cabinets and get it to climb the anti-fatigue mats to at least vacuum them slightly, you have to turn off the sensitivity of its ledge detection, where I found it literally running itself off the edge of the stairs every single time, and even sometimes running itself off the edge of our stairs with the edge detection sensitivity turned on. Another note on the anti-fatigue mats, since I think they're becoming more common to have in residential kitchens if you do food prep, since the vacuum bar is so tiny on the s1 pro, it can only make one pass down the middle of the 80 fatigue mats, and while it does have the dual side bristles, those are really only meant to flick light dirt into the path of the vacuum bar, the vacuum bar having contact with the floor does agitate dirt and pick it up into the airstream, also allowing a lower vacuum power to be ran which increases the runtime of the robot and keeps it quieter, the x40 ultra was able to suck up way more stuff on the minimum mode due to having a way bigger and more aggressive beater bar than the s1 pro was able to even on close to its max setting which is way louder than the x40 ultra on its minimum setting obviously, the side bristles are not a replacement for ground contact with the beater bar so unless you have wide open areas that has no differences in elevation like what you would think of with an anti-fatigue mat, the s1 pro is a poor design for these applications. Even when I could get the s1 pro to mop on the anti fatigue mats, it would normally only do one strip down the middle, and it wouldn't turn them up on until it was halfway through so it would end up only mopping a couple of inches one pass wide in the middle, the x40 ultra has the ability to change the height of the mops and stagger them as well as kick the mop pads out so it will literally mop the beveled angle edge of the anti-fatigue mats and the centers perfectly leaving them spotless every time it takes a little while but it slowly works its way around them and keeps kicking its butt out in order to swing the mop pad down and get every quarter even with the fatigue mats pushed tied up underneath the toe kicks of the cabinets. Both the x40 ultra and the s1 pro are $1,000 on the Black Friday sale right now I would highly recommend picking up the x40 ultra over the s1 pro...

One that finally works as promised!
I've had several robot vacuums and mops over the years. Neatos, Roborocks, Dreames (last one was a Dreame L20). This is the first one that actually seems to work as promised! I live in the country, have 2 dogs that shed A LOT (white German Shepherd; could make a new dog from his shedding every couple days). And 6 cats. Between the shedding and dirt tracked in, keeping the place decently clean is a big issue. We have a 1 1/2 story, about 2300 SF combined, nearly all hard surface. A couple small area rugs. Setup was pretty minimal. Snap the rotating brushes in place, remove the packaging, fill the water tanks and it's good to go. App setup and connectivity were great. I've had to mess with others a bit, they didn't always find and connect to the router on the first try-this did. It did a quick software download and update and was good to go. Also worth mentioning is that moving the base didn't mess up the mapping-it recognized the new location and went to work. (I moved it due to the loudness of the dust-bin emptying-mentioned below). The mapping cycle is very good-it's quick, just a quick pop in each room and it's done, took maybe 15 minutes. Every other vacuum I've tried has had a major design issue. They don't return to the base to empty the dust bin often enough (with our hair collection). The dust bin get packed full, of course can't pick up any longer and just pushes dirt around. The hair packs so hard it's like felt-and the base can't empty that. Ones I've had don't let you adjust that. This one does! I ordered ours after our Dreame crapped out-so it was nearly a week before it was here. I deliberately minimized cleaning-to give it a robust test. And it passed with flying colors! Set the "return to base to empty" to the lowest setting and let it go. Worked perfectly, returned to the base every time and emptied completely. Yes, the emptying cycle is a little loud-but to me that's an effect of a very strong suction in the base-it empties the dust bin and sucks out the filter very well. Something that can't be said for some brands. Mopping-just as everyone else says-works VERY well. My Dreame just smeared the dirt around (in spite of how much was in the dirty water reservoir every time!). Always left little muddy round tracks on the floor. The water tanks are much smaller than the Dreame, probably 1/3-1/2 the size. But it uses so much less water that it's not an issue-lasts just as long before you need to fill/empty the tanks. Another observation-the ozone generator seems to make a difference. The dirty water reservoir in the Dreame stunk bad, even emptied every 1-2 days. Really bad. This one, I don't notice a smell, or at least I haven't yet. VERY nice-though not a critical consideration. Only minor complaint is that the fill port on the clean water tank is small, you have to be careful filling, either hold it, or make sure it's sitting in your sink where the water stream hits the port. Would be nice if the whole top flipped up, like the dirty water tank. But a very small annoyance. Another observation vs the Dreame. It would very rarely dock properly-it would try to climb the ramp to dock and the wheels would spin, causing the vacuum to get tilted and miss the docking/charging ports. In addition, the mop pads left a lot of dirt and hair on the ramp, contributing to the above problem. Between this issue and the above mentioned dust bin issue, I couldn't let it run "auto" on the whole house. Had to do a room at a time and hope for the best. The Eufy has been perfect-vacuumed/mopped exactly where the mapping says it should, has never NOT completed a cycle and docks perfectly. I mentioned how the Dreame left dirt/hair on the ramp. This one doesn't seem to do that. The roller retracts up into the unit and doesn't drag it's way up the ramp. The only place that gets a little nasty is the little tray where the mop pad is cleaned-but it lifts out and is simple to clean. Very nice design-and far easier to clean that the mop-pad washing area of the Dreame or any others with rotating pads. The roller is a game changer. What else? Vacuuming is VERY good. My Dream left little trails of dirt at every threshold and transition to a carpet-this doesn't. And it doesn't leave little piles when it starts climbing the ramp on the the dock. This one also picks up kitty litter specs, unlike the Dreame. That would leave a lot-and when they got on the wet mob pads, that clay would turn to mud and smear. Not here-nothing but a clean, streak free floor left. You can really tell the difference barefoot-no little specs of dirt, no stickiness. Lets talk edge/corner cleaning. I find the vacuuming/dry cleaning to be the best I've seen on any vacuum. The dual brushes seem to help and also make the cleaning process quicker. Since the unit is more squared off, the brushes are mounted towards the corners and extend out well past the body of the unit. The round ones stick out past the diameter-but since they are towards the front of the unit, they don't really get past the OD path at the widest part. Not explaining that well, but hopefully you get the idea. Most of the round ones do a little shuffle along the edge (unless they have an extended brush arm) to try to address this-the Eufy can just truck along straight. A few other observations. The transparent clean water tank is nice-you can see the water level without opening a cover and removing the tank to check it. The tanks are mounted fairly high, so you don't have to bend over as much to change them. And as mentioned they are smaller-and LIGHTER. Another point-the dust bag on the Dreame and some others mount low on the unit. You have to pull off a panel on the front towards the floor. A bit of a pain. I usually had to get on the floor to slide the bag into place, you can't really see the mounting rails standing up. This one mounts vertically and is much more accessible, you can see the mounting rails from above. One thing I haven't checked out-the Dreame had a filter in the back of the compartment where the bag goes. A fair amount of dirt bypasses the bag and plugs that filter-it is a pain to clean-in part because you need to lay on the floor to see it. I need to check on the Eufy and see if it has a similar filter-will do so and update. So-complaints? Not much really. The above mentioned small fill port. It would be nice to have larger water tanks-but again, not a big deal concerning how little it uses-and the small tanks are lighter. Would be nice to mop all the way to the edge-my Dreame did have the mop extend. But then-it's cleaning was pretty marginal, so it didn't help much. This is a very fair tradeoff. This is also a simpler mechanism and should be less failure prone. Now-my one real complaint? The price of the Eufy cleaning solution. $26 on Amazon for that little bottle. Kind of ridiculous. But that's it. I'm an engineer, and having owned several robot vacuums/mops, am pretty critical of design and performance issues. This is by far the best I've used. I recommend it (but be sure to get it on sale for $1,000, don't pay the $1500). It's amazing how far the industry has come and how much better products have gotten in the last 10 years or so. I'm sure that will continue!

Best bang for the buck
Update After 6 weeks of use we're still loving this little Robovac. As a matter of fact I'm removing my criticism of its edge cleaning performance. It has gotten much better with edge and corner cleaning for vacuuming. I assume it learns and refines its mapping every time it cleans. That, along with the square design, it's now picking up crumbs right at the edges and in the corners. Eufy just needs to figure out how to extend the mop to edge and it would be perfect. Not once has it gotten stuck, lost or had a problem docking to the base. Considering how well it cleans it's very frugal with water usage, we don't have to refill the clean water tank as often as we thought we would and the cleaning solution bottle still feels full. I did the first cleaning of the robot and it wasn't too bad. The dirty water tank on the robot does hold some sediment on the bottom and was the hardest thing to clean. I cleaned it by using some Dawn Powerwash spray and the kitchen sink sprayer to get it out. The opening is too small for a brush and there are some little hoses in there that I didn't want to chance messing up. The dust bin filter just needed blowing off and it was good to go. Also, the self emptying works really well since there was no debris in the dust bin. The roller mop looked like the day it came out the box, it should last a long time. The vacuum roller brush had no hair stuck to it. The base had some sediment in the sump/screen where the dirty water dumps from the Robot and some debris. However it's extremely easy to clean. Even though the robot's dirty water tank is a little difficult to clean due to the sediment at the bottom, it also is a sign of how well the self cleaning roller mop design works. The dirt goes into the tank instead of being held in the mop and smeared back on the floor by traditional mop pads of the other robots. Having mostly hard floors with a few rugs, this little robot has been a huge help with upkeep by doing all the floor cleaning. We thought we would have to mop and vacuum at least once a month even with the robot but NOPE. When we ran the regular vacuum it didn't pick up anything out the rugs or off the floor and the mop water was clean. The only places we have to clean are areas where the robot can't reach. IMO the self cleaning roller mop is going to be the future. This is Eufy's first shot at this design and I'm sure they will have some improvements like extending the mop to the side for improved edge cleaning. I also suggest a mop only function and a way to detect how dirty the water coming off the mop is so it can automatically go to deep clean mode if necessary. Great floor cleaner and exceeds expectations. Easy to setup and easy to use. Does an exceptional job mopping the floors. It does a good job vacuuming the carpet but it specializes in hard floor cleaning. Mapping is quick and accurate. Obstacle avoidance is top notch even in complete darkness. The only thing that needs improvement is it needs to get closer to the corners and walls for edge cleaning. Looked at the competition that’s far more expensive and they have no advantages over the Eufy S1 Pro to justify their price.

Life Changing
I’m going to explain what I saw online and how I chose this. Then I will describe my environment and how this unit performs. I cover a lot of ground so hopefully this helps you. For what its worth: I had the Roomba way back. Like the first generation many years ago. It did not do that well and I got rid of it after a few months. To be fair, we had a lot of dog hair at that time. I miss my puppy :) Things have changed. I did some web searches and the Eufy S1 Pro was usually in the top three for the category of vacuum / mop combo units. There’s a lot of choices out there. Some garbage, some good. You can go on Reddit and find lots of detailed experiences for just about any model you want to know about. There’s also a lot of reviews and videos out there. I will say that some of the reviews are a bit “robust” or perhaps even unreasonable. I remember one reviewer being disappointed that a combo mop did not completely remove a week-old coffee stain. Another expected it to clean up dried caramel. No current robot belongs in those homes. Or people :) I did come across a very helpful comment from the head of engineering at Dyson (maker of great vacuum products). He explained there are some physical limitations involved. These little robots need power and motors which take up space. They can be very good at vacuuming or at mopping, bit it is hard to be very good at both due to the physical constraints. Why am I explaining all this? I decided the thing to do was to set reasonable expectations. I wanted my floors look and feel cleaner on a daily basis. If there was ever a serious cleanup to do, I would do it manually as needed. And I am also expecting that with automated daily cleaning, my manual intervention would need to be significantly less overall. The short answer is: My expectations were met. In fact they have been exceeded. More on this at the end. It may help to know my environment. I have mostly hard floors (hardwood and travertine tile) with some area rugs. I live in a luxury home in a tropical environment. The reason I mention luxury is to establish the caliber of cleanliness that is appropriate – It’s not a hospital, it’s not a junkyard. The reason I mention tropical is this: It can get windy and the dirt blows around. The weather is nice, so you leave the doors and windows open. Our floors can get dirty fast. On a daily basis. In a day or two, we can feel it on our feet as we walk barefoot in the house most of the time. If we let it go a few days, we can visibly see the buildup. At times, it can be hard to keep up with. So now about the robot. This unit is built well. It is made by Anker; a solid growing company. That was important as I wanted long term support and replacement items. This unit works well. The floors look and feel clean every day with very little effort by me. It never gets stuck or lost. It gets close to walls and navigates the feet of furniture. In the app, I can pause it, schedule it, adjust the strength of vacuum and mopping (think "louder/quieter"). Also within the app, there are well done videos that demonstrate features or help with troubleshooting (very clever). I can order consumables (bags, soap, parts) from within the app (ok you got me hooked for the long run, Anker). The app also even has tech support (live chat or phone). I have only used the chat but it was real (not AI or automated). The robot “discovered” the entire flooring on its own and created a line drawn map. The robot shows you where it is on the map in real time. It has a voice feature that keeps me posted on its progress. I’m pretty sure the next version will cook breakfast for me. When it goes back to the based station, it empties the robot’s dustbin and dirty mop water into the base station. Once week, I empty the tank, change the bag and add fresh water. It even has an ozonater for the fresh water to keep it fresh. Genius. Even more genius is how it manages the mop. It has a system that basically cleans the mop as it goes so that it’s not dragging a dirty mop across the floor. I think most of the other system don’t do this (yet). Then, when it’s back at the base station it cleans and dries the mop (with hot air?) for a few hours so that it does not start to get gross. What the? This thing is well thought out, is well built and does a great job. I am confident they will also improve this through firmware and app updates as well as in future products. (I can use it on a send floor, but the transfer process is just a little bit clunky in the software). This is my first “long form” review… if I sound like a review geek then so be it. This has been some of the best money I have spent in a long time and I wanted to share the fun with others. It really has changed my life for the better in a way that I see and feel on a daily basis.

Excellent mopping robot vacuum except…
The Eufy S1 Pro RoboVac is my first robot vacuum. Its mopping ability is excellent. It’s very well built and engineered. The self-washing mop mechanism alone is very well thought out. Mopping Performance: After running just one-pass cleaning, my hardwood floor is really squeaky clean. That is in the areas it would reach. Unfortunately, sometimes the robot would avoid getting too close to the under-cabinet in the kitchen. There is a setting to set the Height Detection Sensitivity from "Safe Mode" to "Medium" or "Free Mode" which would make the robot vacuum to take some risks and get close to the tight spaces but you run the risk of it taking too much risk and getting stuck. In my case, it went under the couch and got stuck, scratching the glossy surface. Ugh. Vacuuming Performance: When it comes to carpet cleaning, it's not great though. Now, I understand this is a robot vacuum and it doesn't clean like a dedicated upright or even a cordless vacuum, like my Dyson V10. But it misses to pick up some of my dog's hair clumps on areas on the carpet. Sometimes, if the hair clumps are big enough it would just go around them thinking they are obstacles. You can turn off "Small Object Less Collision Mode" feature which would make allow to ignore those large clumps as obstacles, but then you risk of other things like a phone charger or smaller items to be run over and risks getting stuck in the roller. Drop Sensor Issue: After reading some comments on Reddit, I realized that it's a common problem with robot vacuums to not work on dark carpets or carpets with black patterns on them, which I have in one area of my living room. This is because the robot vacuum has a sensor that prevents it from falling off the stairs or drop-offs. These robots can't distinguish that from a black carpet or a real drop. The Eufy S1 is not immune to this issue. It skips certain parts of my area rug. It pauses, reverses, and goes around them. I think with all the built-in LIDAR and cameras on board, I was hoping it can be smarter than that. Now, I thought it would be safe to leave the robot to vacuum my second floor and not fall off the stairs. Boy, was I wrong! Luckily, it only fell one step off the stairs. To mitigate this, I had to set up a virtual wall before the stairs but I now had to remember to manually vacuum the remaining 6-inch gap beyond the virtual wall. Here’s the irony here. It stops on very dark carpets because of drop sensor but wasn’t effective at keeping it from falling off the stairs. Conclusion: Overall, I do want to keep it because it's a really good RoboVac for hard floors. I do hope most of the issues I mentioned can be fixed by firmware. The poor carpet vacuuming performance is unfortunate. I could get a second vacuum for my mostly-carpet second floor but that's like spending another $400 to $500 which I wasn't looking forward to doing. If that's the case, I'm thinking if another product would be a good hybrid mop/vacuum combo even if it's not as good as the Eufy S1 Pro. I just ordered the Dreame X40 Ultra ($1,899) to see if it's any better. I heard good and bad things about it. I have a feeling that the mopping ability would not match the Eufy S1 Pro and I'm hoping that at least it's better in carpet vacuuming and the navigation is better especially not falling off the stairs. Let's see. UPDATE: Well… the Dreame X40 Ultra stopped working after just 2 rooms and 3 cycles of cleaning. I’m obviously returning it. And I just reordered the Eufy S1 Pro.

Decent but a lot of issues
I'll start off with my issues with the S1 Pro. I've had this thing for about a week, it took me 3 days to finally get the update to succeed, it kept failing and was not on my end, perfect internet connection and no issues. But my biggest issue with the robots thus far is the dirty reservoir tank that connects to the actual robot, the robot would go back to the station and would start the suction process to drain the dirty water reservoir, but unfortunately it wasn't actually draining because the dirty water reservoir was defective and wouldnt release the dirty water to be suctioned up into the dirty water tank on the station. So basically the robot would not Auto clean because the reservoir was full , so I had to babysit it and empty the reservoir manually every time it got Full, which is often because it has such a small tank. Now I didn't figure out the fix right away, it took me a few days to do all the troubleshooting steps of every possible thing and of course nothing worked, I finally found a local who had the same robot and asked if I could test out their dirty Reservoir in my robot and see what would happen and wouldn't you know it, it worked perfect with theirs and my robot drained the tank like a charm. During all this I was in communication with Eufy support. And what drives me mad is I tell them I did all the troubleshooting steps, I went and took the time to explain every single thing I did, what do you think they did?! They told me to do the same stuff over again, which actually drives me nuts. I asked him if they could just replace the dirty Reservoir or let me send the defective one back to them and send me a replacement, and they tell me I need to send back everything in order to get the Reservoir replaced, I'm still in communication with support, that's one of the reasons why this review is only two stars, they make everything so much more difficult for you. Why would you put the hassle on somebody to find a huge shipping box to package this ginormous station and ship it back, and on top of that you're going to have to wait several weeks before they actually send you the new robot, when this could easily be fixed with sending me a replacement part, that you know they have just sitting there. As far as everything else, before this I had the X10 Omni Pro and I'll say the S1 Pro is definitely an upgrade, the roller mop alone is a huge step up and does an excellent job at mopping my wood floors. It seems to get around pretty well and it's also a more compact unit then the x10 which means it can go under more furniture and does a little bit better in corners. The vacuum works great , the suction is very powerful and picks up everything so far, I don't see a whole lot of tangling from pet hair or anything like that either with the new rubber roller. It also gets over my rugs fine and can even go over an inch lip from my dining room to my kitchen. I think the only issue I've had so far with it not making it to one of the rooms, I have a ramp that it refuses to use, but the ramp does go into a room that's about a foot lower than the rest of the house, it tries to make it up the ramp which surprisingly the old X10 could do easily, but the S1 pro has some problems, so that's one room I can't have it clean. The battery life seems good also, I have it clean three medium sized rooms two times, four times a day and it's almost always full battery. It's also easy to control the robot with the app, there you can schedule Auto cleaning and control any aspect of the robot basically and the buttons on the actual station are also easy to work with. One thing I'm not a big fan of, is they have their own floor cleaner that connects to the station, which forces you to use their brand, which looks pretty expensive at over $30 per replacement. I haven't tried removing the cleaner yet to see if the station prevents you from cleaning without it. But hopefully you can still just use water and if you really want to try your luck you could probably mix some type of floor cleaner in with the clean water tank, but of course they don't recommend you do this as they say it can harm the station or robot. If it wasn't for the dirty Reservoir defect I'm dealing with, I would definitely give this more stars, overall it's probably one of the best cleaning robots thus far, minus the defects and aggravation with support! UPDATE: I had nothing but issues with this robot, constant firmware errors, and again like the last Model I got from them it lasted less than a year before it finally croaked, the mop motor stopped functioning correctly, Now it only can vacuum. This has been one of the worst experiences I've had. Their robots just don't last and they scam you out of the warranty.

Fantastic mopping, easy maintenance, floors have never looked so clean
Five months with my S1 Omni Pro and I am very happy with the choice. Setup was easy with voice guidance from the unit as well as from the app. To place it you need an area with good clearance on the front and sides. The first run does a basic map of the area, and the next few runs improve on the map. It’s simple on the app to fine-tune the room divisions. No-Go zones and Virtual Boundaries keep the Omni away from areas you don’t want it to go to. There are basic controls on the unit itself like start, pause and return to home base, with more detailed controls on the app. There was a little bit of learning curve on how to use the map, as with anything with so many features, but after first couple of uses I’ve had no issues at all with the app, Scheduled cleaning is easy to set up. You specify by room, by zone, or on automatic, whether vacuum only or vacuum and mop, how much suction and how deep the mop cleaning, and whether to make one or two passes. Unlike my old “unsmart” vac, with this one if there’s something on the floor like a cat toy or pet mess, it just goes around it. In the very rare case it needs help voice guidance tells me what it needs, and unlike my old “unsmart” Roomba I don’t have to go searching for it because the app shows me exactly where it is. Mine runs on daily schedule vac/mopping different areas in the morning and vacuuming other areas in the evening. On longer runs it will periodically return to home base to empty its onboard dustbin. On occasion I’ll use zone cleaning to give an extra mopping to an area where there was a spill or that needs a little more. Mopping is spectacular, and my floors are sparkling clean with no streaks or wet spots. You do have to keep up with maintenance to keep it running at peak, but maintenance is easy. After each clean it goes to home base and empties itself, washes the mop roller and dries the mop, with no intervention needed at all. Regular maintenance consists of basic tasks (with excellent video instructions) like cleaning the brushes and rollers, tending to the dirty/clean water tanks, and keeping an eye on the filter bag so see when it needs replacing. I have mostly hardwood and tile with area rugs, and multiple pets including a large canine super-shedder. I do have to occasionally use a regular upright vac on rugs to get up the amazing amount of hair our big dog sheds, and occasionally go around the edges with regular vac as it doesn’t quite get all the way up to the edges. The difference from my old unsmart vac is amazing. I’d almost say life-changing, because floor care is so easy now I hardly give it a thought.

Insane dirt pickup on mopping
WHAT. I run my other robot mop DAILY. Sometimes more than that in a day. I still have the water from it cleaning yesterday (image 1) I ran the eufy for the first time today and this is the water?! (Image 2) what has my mop been doing? It is just as expensive as a mop but uses the spinning mop pads. I did not expect the roller pressure and cleaning the roller as it goes to make this drastic of a difference. I will see how maintaining it is and will update when I know. OTHER MOP (my last one) Shreds its own mop pads when it cleans them in the base station Has ran over pet poop more times than I can count despite that was their #1 selling point at the time It uses the entire container of water with one clean I will update if there’s any similar complaints will this S1 pro! OCT 30 Well it’s been only a few days since we got it and my dog really has it out for this thing. Unfortunately if your lights are off. Its poop recognition isn’t great understandably. It was surprisingly a lot easier to clean after the disaster than I expected and have experienced with other robots. I think either the vacuum or the mop handled the majority. Yikes. But there wasn’t really any traces besides in the wheels which are unfortunately just as hard to clean as others. It is way better at avoiding hitting things than our previous ones, and some how way better at picking up debris with the vacuum than our previous one with lower suction. It’s went over crazy amounts of crumbs and had no problem. It is EXTREMELY nice that when clean water is poured in the part it pours its dirty water, that the pump turns on. Meaning I can clean out the lines with water very easily. The parts on this vacuum come apart to clean so well that I feel I can actually properly clean it. Not like there’s Internal parts that I can’t access that will build up dirt over time. The only thing you can’t access is the clean water tank which should never get dirty anyways I will continue to update as I learn more Nov 1 This thing is still picking up dirt off our floor. We have not reached clear water like we have with my old robot yet

Seamless Support and a Fantastic Robot Vacuum – Love My Eufy S1 Pro!
I am absolutely thrilled with my Eufy S1 Pro! What impressed me the most was their incredible automatic response system built right into the app. On April 9, when I encountered an issue (E76 error where the vacuum wouldn’t return to the base), I immediately received a detailed automated email with clear troubleshooting steps. I followed them and replied back, and almost instantly Nicole from support responded with a prepaid shipping label for a replacement—no need to call or explain anything further. The entire process was seamless and hassle-free. After just a couple of follow-up emails on my part, I received a brand new replacement unit on the ninth day. This level of customer care is outstanding and shows how much Eufy values their customers. The vacuum itself is fantastic—powerful suction, smart mapping, and the UniClean station that automatically empties, washes, and refills the mop is a game changer. I highly recommend the Eufy S1 Pro for anyone looking for a premium, reliable robot vacuum with top-notch customer support! Lastly to all future buyers, here’s a helpful tip I learned during setup: always remove the water tank before flipping the unit over for maintenance or cleaning. The app gave me this warning when I received my replacement, and it’s also mentioned in the official user guide—removing the water tank first helps prevent spills or potential damage to the vacuum. This small step will help keep your S1 Pro running smoothly!

I could go barefoot again 😱😅
so far love this vacuum mop. only minor issues. but the good so far out weighs the bad. vs the last 2 robot vacuums I had. Larestar brand, I think? first was an amazing vacuum/mop but ran through cat poop J7+ mop, I think? Replaced with a new vaccum no mopping, as promised not to run through poop...that was a lie... And would not do anything about it/for me Both vacuums had issues, yes, after extensive reviews 1 of my schedules, weekly, is vacuum only 805am Tues, wed,Thurs,Saturday,Sunday, yet it wouldn't even start that schedule for a few days after set up. once the schedule did finally start to work on it's own, it started mopping randomly on a Saturday, which it was not set up for It has run into a cord to a wireless charger, pulled it up in but never ripped the cord. 1 or both other robot vacuums I had ripped cords to shred. I was able to fully use this cord after, and the vacuum alerted me and stopped any suction or emptying. It also sucked up a string attached to a cat tunnel, I saw it, and intervened. String also unharmed. 1 day this week I saw 1 of the front brushes on the floor in another room than the robot. It had a thin string wrapped around it quite a bit. I removed and worked well since. 1 day last week, 1 of my cats pooped outside of their robot litterbox instead of having their head facing outwards - was super happy that the vacuum successfully avoided it compared to my last 2 vacuums. After my car accident, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, hurts me more than any other movement. I got my first one a year or 2 after the accident, it's something I can't live without. And someone with long hair, and my husband does too, I was worried about a review I watched about how poorly this vacuum does with long hair. Though in the review, it stayed if he waited longer, the vacuum might have pushed it to the correct spot and worked perfectly. I haven't taken all of the protective wrap off the sides of the actual vacuum. I didn't know I missed any, to be honest. But it must run into things cause the plastic wrap is getting damaged. My kitchen mat to stand on infront of the sink, apparently isn't something this robot will clean. I thought it would treat it as a carpet? I also have a memory foam bath mat outside the bathtub, and it just pushes it into a pile Also in my kitchen, there's a curve to the edge of the kitchen and the rest of the flooring in the open concept house. It would not clean the area in the start of the curve, next to the counter. Ripped the quarter round (or similar) off the floor in that spot, and now it gets cleaned. I had a black mat under my desk to protect the wood from the wheels, the robot would not register the mat at all and avoided the area. I took it out and put it under 1 of the 3 robot litterboxes, and it somehow registers it over there now - the mat under that solo litterbox previously, I used a large reusable puppy pee pad I had from when I needed it for my 17yr old cat. Last negatives I found, were that if you had to cancel a cleaning vs pause, it takes the cleaning solution and then doesn't use it - does it stay in for next time or dumps it? As it says it's cleaning the mop if I cancel the action. I have hardwood, laminent, and gym flooring in my house. I wasn't sure how it would clean the gym flooring - as sweeping doesn't work well on that texture. Even with 6 indoor cats, my house is never very hairy, pre-vacuum. Even though I'm in so much pain, I was rarely able to sweep. However, since getting this vacuum mop, my floors have never felt this good. and every day! Only cat hair is only right as we pet them and it falls down, then it gets vacuumed before I know it. I could go barefoot in here again if I wanted! My couch is also less dirty from my feet staying clean in here from the floors, that little PC's of dirt no longer go on the couch. My friend was looking at buying a vaccum, then got very interested in a robot vacuum instead when I told him about my last experiences with them, and my current one - he was floored (no pun intended) that it could go over all the types of thresholds in my house, he sent pics and asked if it would do his - yes, 100% I like that it needs less room around the base of the charger compared to my smaller, cheaper ones (still not cheap $ though lol) I do wish it alerted me to fill the water container before it is needed in the middle of a clean. The app would know how much water a mopping takes here, and could tell you earlier than oops right now I'm out of water while half of your house is mopped and you're not home. I would also love to be able to add a feature to the app. Sometimes there are objects in the way, so they have to skip them, even when the robot comes back to try - perfectly fair. Sometimes it's my cats watching it and they don't move. So the area doesn't get cleaned. So after it's finished, I look what areas were missed (cause of cats) and what if anything,do I need to move so it can vacuum a certain area. That's where the zones come in handy in the app. But once I go to zones, I can no longer see the areas missed. So I have to guess the areas, and sometimes after the vacuuming is done for the areas, after already doing the whole floor, for it to go back to. But if the previous map stayed up during, I could ensure all areas get finished

Unreliable customer support
I like the S1 Pro a lot. I was a Kickstarter backer when it was just launched and I ordered a 2 pack. Afterwards I ordered 3 more- including 2 as housewarming gifts. With all 5 of these I never had any reason to contact customer support. I had to order and replace parts which were fairly expensive but quite straightforward. However, the first time I needed support, I realized that they are not there for you. I actually ordered a 6th S1 Pro for my office, but Eufy had a sale that wasn’t (yet) reflected on Amazon, so I ordered directly from Eufy. However after 5 days Fedex still did not receive the item. So I contacted client support. They got back to me the next day with a boilerplate statement including a link to Fedex and the tracking number- which I already had. Clearly they did not even read my email. So I emailed back with a screenshot showing Fedex did not receive the item yet and asked them to cancel the order so that I could order from Amazon which now was $100 less than the price I bought it at. But after several more days and an escalation to a supervisor, I was told that since the Fedex label was generated- and even though the item was not yet provided to Fedex- that they cannot refund me, nor were they willing to call up the warehouse and find out what happened to the robot I paid for. After tax this thing was over $1500. But apparently the item is in limbo- probably lost by their warehouse. They won’t refund me. They won’t cancel my order. I just have to wait indefinitely until until someone in their warehouse finds it and gives it to Fedex- if indeed it isn’t just lost. Either way, I must now sit here and wait and cannot get my money back. It’s already been 10 days since I placed my order. The shipping estimate was 3 days. The tracking still says “Label created”, but Fedex as of now still hasn’t received it. So now I’m stuck. Including this robot I have purchased 6 Eufy S1 Pros. This is the first time I needed any support and they basically shafted me. The product is nice but without reliable and competent customer support the customer is taking a huge gamble. I’m giving this a 1 star rating because Eufy basically cheated me of $1500 and now I know they cannot be relied upon to provide competent support.
