Howard Miller 549695 Hamer Wall Clock II

The car is very nice very well crafted. The battery operated chimes are very low quality and sound crackly and muffled not very pleased with the sound portion of the clock.

Clean lines! Perfect wall clock for hanging in my dining room where it’s visible from the kitchen, living room, dining room and sunroom. I disabled the chimes because no matter how I tried, I couldn’t get them to accurately chime the time.

I returned it! Should have known better. Howard Miller website has the exact same look and measurements clock model “Allegheny” that is considerably more. Not sure what the chime sounds like on that one but they don’t even offer this model for sale in their website. So it’s made specifically for Amazon to meet a price point which means they cut corners to make is cost less. This model “hamer”, offered exclusively through Amazon, sounds like a kids electronic toy. NOTHING at all like my previous Howard Miller electric wall clock. To say I was disappointed is an understatement.The case is pretty but there is absolutely no additional info about this model anywhere but on Amazon, and that is pretty limited also. Buyer beware, get a REAL one directly from Howard Miller. Amazon is going the way of another big box home improvement store offering the “name brand” built to their specs to make it cheap…..too bad

Solid furniture. Bought as a gift for my Mother. Didn't give it five stars because there should be a switch to silence the chime, even a three way switch to leave the hour chime and silence the song each hour. She's 92 and can't hear it, but I hear it all the time I'm there.

The clock comes very well packaged. Looks nice. Its internals look on the low budget side but otherwise work, at least for the few days I have had it. I think its overpriced for what it is. It is made offshore unlike the high $ clocks this company makes. I do like the fact it is silent and not installing the batteries for the chime function, for me, is what I prefer. I would like to have seen the clock with a front panel that opens. Like many wall clocks you need to remove it from wall, take off back panel to replace batteries and adjust time and to start pendulum swing. Unfortunately moving it to then hang on wall the pendulum gets knocked around, so you need to restart it by tipping the clock to one side to get it to swing again. Something a front opening panel would allow easier. Ideally it lasts the 30+ years my old clock did which also was a low budget internal battery-operated clock. That part actually looks like the same mechanism this clock has.

It came assembled. Good quality. Pleasing chime.

clock has a flat bottom... so you can set on table. would need a nail into a stud to hang on wall. well made wood box. clock and chime driver are cheaply made.... but even in the higher priced models , the drivers are the same. paid 130 dollars, used.. like new. is not worth 200 new. chimes always fail first.
