We put it on subscription
For us, this is something that has really made a difference. My partner's dog is a mix of 'working' dogs (collie, staffie, britney, etc) and is always ready for action. Moving my two cats into his space amplified his natural tendencies and training has been slow. I added this collar in a desperate attempt to bring a little peace. Its not magic, and it's certainly not something that we put on and immediately noticed a huge shift. What we noticed is that around 3.5-4.5weeks our dog is being a louder barking PITA and we realize it's time for a new collar. After an hour or two he's back to the calmer version of him, and is better able to respond to commands and his calm down time shortens significantly. For us this is a staple and I bought and extra and then put it on subscription so we always have one in the closet waiting.

Worked Wonders Immediately
Fabulous product. Immediate result! Meet Merlin, my 9 week old Bernedoodle puppy. He’s teething and in the evenings he’d get more uncomfortable because of it, so a bit more spunky. I was going to get one of those plug in pheromone gadgets but that won’t work in our home because the substrate that aerosolizes the pheromones is unsafe for birds. So my friend recommended this Thunder Ease collar and as soon as I put it on Merlin it had an immediate soothing effect. The collar is adjustable and you simply cut off any extra you don’t need. It attaches easily but is secure. It reminds me of how a zip tie works in that once you put it on you pretty much want to leave it on. The manufacturer recommends 24/7 use for optimum result. I was cautious because I didn’t want the collar to have a sedative effect or change the personality of the puppy - and it doesn’t. He’s not drugged, just calm, like he would be when he was feeling safe with his dog mom. The collar is light weight and flexible doesn’t bother my puppy at all. On an adult dog wearing a collar, this could easily be a secondary collar because it’s so light and unobtrusive. Highly recommend.

Didn't help our pup
We have a two and a half year old cavalier king charles spaniel. She's a sweetheart, but, unlike our previous cavaliers, she's extremely anxious. Her vet and I agree that a lot of her difficult behaviors stem from anxiety. She freaks out when I leave the house, and begins the most heart breaking crying and howling. She has periodically marked by peeing on dog - and human - beds in the house. This is likely because our daughter lives here with her dog, and that dog definitely dominates her. She loses her mind when she sees a bird or a squirrel, and is a flight risk. I tried the calming collar for about 5+ weeks now (we are on our second collar), with no change at all. While I believe this might work for some dogs, it doesn't seem to be working for us. I gave it 3 stars because it is easy-to-use, safe and affordable.

Just another fancy collar - Mixed results
I really, really wanted this to work. Our dog struggles with anxiety, and after reading about pheromone technology, I was hopeful that the ThunderEase Calming Collar would be the solution we’ve been looking for. The Reality To be fair, it wasn't a total failure. We noticed a very minimal improvement in behavior, but it was so subtle we almost had to convince ourselves it was happening. If you’re looking for a "magic solution" or a silver bullet for anxiety issues, this isn't it. Pros & Cons Pros: Easy to put on; didn't have a harsh chemical smell. Cons: The results simply don’t warrant the price tag, especially considering you have to replace these every 30 days. Final Verdict For the cost of monthly replacements, I expected a much more noticeable change in behavior. It might work for dogs with very mild "jitters," but for anything more serious, it feels like a waste of money. We won't be buying a replacement when this one expires. Save your money and look into other options.

Schade. Aber die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt.
