Q: What is the diameter of the base of the blue Bialetti 3 cup coffee pot?

Hi Roger, that coffee maker was a present so I don't have it with me. However I measured the diameter of the base of my coffee maker, the classic model, and it is 3 inches/almost 8 cm. I would say that it must be the same or very close. Kr Paola

This size bialetti takes about 120 ml of water in total for 3 espresso sized cups of coffee. This is less than a quarter of a pint.

Q: The bottom of water chamber began to show discolouration and ss if mole growing inside it. Is there a way to clear/prevent this?

A moka coffee pot is not an ideal place to grow a mole – that’s just cruel. Release the mole into a field so it can dig tunnels and eat worms… Incidentally, it may help if you dry the moka pot throughly after washing it; leave the lid up for air to circulate, preventing any mould from growing.

Q: I really love the colours, but does it stains easily?

The bottom line close to the heat source will likely discolour as it did with ours, although I bought pale blue, so you might get longer with another colour. The underside of the spout is the next area of discolouration, again, less I’m sure in another colour. The rest of the pot is largely fine and cleans well. It still looks cleaner and less stained than the plain chrome model it replaces, but ask me again in 6 years when they’ve had the same use.
