NETVUE Birdfy Lite- Smart Bird Feeder Camera

Look for something else. This is my second one. The previous generation was a great product. Unfortunately the old one stopped working. Bought 2 new ones for my wife as a Christmas gift thinking it is the same product. It is not.1. The wifi would not connect to the exact same router as the older one. I had to get a wifi extender to connect.2. They nickel and dime you for all the features that was on the old model.You want longer recordings... Pay up.Bird identification? Pay up.3. Local recording on SD card? NO. The slot is there but you cannot record to it.Basically you are renting the camera and have to pay for it to work. Why it is so expansive is beyond me. (greed)I am in the process of looking for something to replace this with. Birdfy basically took the joy out of bird watching and replaced it with a drain on your pocket.If they were honest they would sell this for $30 and charge you a monthly fee.TLDR: Disappointing product and service. Look for something else!UPDATE: April 9, 2026.Birdfy support contacted me and did a GREAT job on helping me with my issues.1. The wifi issue was resolved by adding a wifi extender.2. My old model was a gift and include bird identification. The difference here is AI Lifetime and AI by Subscription. I picked the wrong option at purchase.3. The memory card in the older model did not support continuous recording. All clips get's saved to the cloud, even in the old model.So bottom line is I did not properly research the models.I'm a very happy customer now.Thanks.PS. the video of hawk was after a rainstorm. I needed to clean the lens.

Love the video quality of the feeder and I don’t have the connection issues I do with another brand. A couple of things that could be improved on: 1. I wish the camera could be removed to be charged, and 2. I wish the app would allow video frames to be converted into photos. With the cage attachment, the best photo ops aren’t usually at the very beginning. But I don’t know of any that offer this feature.

Arrived quickly & was easy to put together along with setting up the wifi. Can't wait for my bird seed to be delivered so I can check it out. Only issue I had (not NETVUE or AMAZON fault) is my phone I guess is too old. The app keeps crashing. My brother setup on his phone so I can at least watch from my computer desktop.

This is why I took off a star, and yes I did check the junk mail folder and searched all my mailboxes for Netvue. Ironically, I did start getting advertising emails from them pretty quickly. Otherwise it's pretty good. I bought a solar panel from a different brand to keep it charged because it was a bit awkward to charge where I have it located every 2 days. I live in the city so don't have a huge variety - Mourning Doves, sparrows, house finches and scrub jays so no need for the ID software. It does provide a lot of entertainment, especially from the Eurasian Collared Doves I have as regular visitors-I call them the goofs because they seem to think nothing of landing on each other and cramming themselves in although 3 at at a time is the maximum (the feeder is between two plants in pots). The feeder is easy to fill - I set it down on some shelving I have on the patio and used the belt to keep it in place. The assembly instructions were OK but minimal instructions for how to set up the camera and oddly the default setting is upside down-that needs to be fixed-another reason for the 4-star rating. Having said that the quality is good, it's easy to wipe off the occasional schmutz that gets on there, and the birds seem to be happy!Update: After stating that 3 is the maximum number of goofs that can fit they surpassed themselves and I think at one point 5 of them were squashed in there! You can record longer videos if you have the sd card installed, you just have to be watching live. I feed them Wagner's Greatest Variety bird food after a lot of experimentation in case you were wondering...
