LIFETIME WARRANTY AND SUPER EFFECTIVE
This tool arrived two days ago. Due to recent rains, our normally neat yards had a surfeit of weeds and dandelions. Having read all the glowing reviews on this tool, I could not wait to get outside and try it. Within about 15 minutes of its delivery, nearly every weed in my front yard was GONE!! INITIAL RESULTS: I cannot believe how easily this tool yanked out dandelions, thistles, clover, etc., out of our soft soil. ROOTS: Does this weeder always remove the entire tap root? No, sometimes a root breaks off. I do not see this as a problem. I got the entire visible part of the weed out in about 2 seconds. Now it will take that weed weeks to grow back, if it ever grows back at all....at which time I will, in 2 seconds, extract it again! USE ON HARD DRY GROUND: This tool works better when soil is wet, or at least soft. Dry hard clay? Not so good, since the claws need to pierce the dirt. I could see somebody breaking it if they tried to force it into the adobe soil hard enough. BREAKAGE: Users’ reports of breakage concerned me somewhat, but I have not managed to break this tool so far. What are these folks complaining about? If it breaks, it has a FULL LIFETIME WARRANTY. It says this right on the handle. And I will insist on Amazon’s satisfaction guarantee. If that doesn’t work, I bought it with my VISA and will invoke their purchase protection. THIS THING IS ACTUALLY FUN. I have never owned another dandelion digging tool that was so fast and effective. It is so light and easy, it is actually FUN to dig weeds! It had my entire front lawn (and most of my flower beds) weeded in about 15 minutes after I opened the box. It weeded my entire backyard two days later. There is almost no fatigue, and very little bending over. It pulls the weed and roots out, and then you just “chuh-chunk” the handle (like a pump shotgun) to “eject” the weed into a basket. Buh-bye!! I love it. NOTE: Sometimes the weed comes out with an ounce.or two of soil attached, leaving a little crater behind. I just re-water the area and it looks fine. I see no way weeds will be able to grow fast enough to keep up with me and my new Fiskars weeder. Not unless it breaks on me...in which case, I will get another one!! See below.... WARRANTY! There is actually a sticker right on the handle that says: "FULL LIFETIME WARRANTY: This product is warranted to be free of defects in material and workmanship for as long as the original consumer owns the product." In other words, this tool seems to have a strong warranty. I do not see how I could ever be upset over it breaking, if that means I can just get a brand new one for free. If you ever have a problem, they even list their 800 number for you. (866) 348-5661 04/12/2018 UPDATE I not had a single problem with it. This weeder is fantastic. It is actually FUN to use. I’ve been happily showing it to my neighbors and many friends. I don't often give 5 stars, but at this point, I could hardly be more delighted with it. I see why 70% of its reviewers have given it 5 stars. If FISKAR has ever denied a warranty claim on anyone’s weeder, please share your details. Remember...they provide a free FULL LIFETIME WARRANTY. THIS IS NOW, BY FAR, MY FAVORITE YARD TOOL

Weeds Be Gone!!!!
Because of back issues I was desperate for an answer to get rid of my weeds without constantly bending over and pulling them. Fiskars was my golden answer. It was delivered on a rainy day but because of all the other great reviews, I went out in the yard to see if it was as great as I had read in the reviews. OMG!!!! It was so easy and worked so well that I ended up with four bags of weeds. Two of my neighbors came out to see what I was doing. I let them try it and they were hooked and wanted one of their own. It is so effective and gets the weeds out by the roots. This is my new garden toy. This item is such a good value and well worth the money.

It's great! It works! Makes weeding easy.
This is a great tool. I used it after a good soaking rain, and I’m sure it would work much better in damp ground than dry ground. (Fiskars makes two models of this tool, one with three claws, one with four. Mine has four claws, which I suspect works better for grabbing the weeds.) If you watch how the tool works, once you plant the claws in the ground, a plate clamps the leaves of the weed from the top. To make sure the plate clamps (downward) on the leaves, I think you have to push down on the orange ejector handle. As other reviewers have noted, it’s important to center the claws over the weed so it can properly grab the weed. This is easiest on large weeds that spread radially from the center. Also important, pull the weed out slowly—there’s less likelihood that the root will break off. Occasionally a weed doesn’t come out, but chances are you loosened it on the first try and can get it the second time. Several reviewers noted that the large plastic piece at the bottom could be stronger, and for some users it broke. So I was careful not to put too much pressure on this part. Note that it’s not for your foot, as you might guess, but it provides the leverage for the pulling the weed as you tilt the tool away from where the weed is. I went out just to test the tool, but it was so successful I just kept at it for about an hour and filled two large plastic buckets with weeds. I would say the tools works best for large honkin' weeds that spread 4 inches or more from the center (more to grab onto). It doesn’t seem to grab on as well to smaller weeds. This was a surprise to me: I have a certain kind of grass in my yard that grows in clumps (not crabgrass). I don’t know what it is, but the blades are thicker than my lawn grass, and it’s just “unsightly.” I found that if I could center the weed puller over a clump and grab it with the clamp, I could usually get the whole thing out, because the roots are not that deep. So usually I could pull these clumps out whole, without pulling out the desirable grass. This was amazing. Several reviewers said it leaves holes in your lawn. I found that usually the holes were not that big, but if you pull a really big weed than you’re going to have a big hole. Better to have a hole you can fill with soil and grass seed than a big ugly weed! Finally, my new lawn is pretty rocky. If you hit a rock, you can’t grab the roots and the weed, so in that case you might was well just move on. I salute whoever invented this contraption. It works! Glad I bought it.

Handy tool. Does its job well and for a long time.
Its a great tool. I had one before this for years. It could be improved a little if it had a wider base blade.. maybe but those are hard to find. I've seen review videos that rate this highly say a few others can do as well or better with a wider scooplike blade, but I couldn't find any available to get at a decent quality this time around. One note, don't leave these outside in the rain. Long term thats what killed my old one. Theres a metal spine inside the fiberglass handle that eventually rusted to the point where the handle bent over. After ya few summers of heavy use the foot lever can break. But we're talking use in compacted rocky ground and far beyond what I would expect of a tool. I shaped some steel plates to go on either side and bolted them using the stock holes, and went on to another several years of use. So this will definitely work on weeds better than most tools. Even when abused it will last for years and can be repaired to last even longer. Great tool. Oh yea if you loosen the roots with a slight motion. Reposition and then pull the bigger weeds it will remove a lot less soil.

What I like most about this tool is you don't have to bend over or squat down and when you are getting on in years that really matters. It also does the job quickly. I find Fiskars is a quality brand, having previously bought their Micro Tip pruning shears, that won't break the bank.

Its meant mainly for loose top soil, like what you may have below a lawn in a front or back yard. I bought it for my farm which has sandy loamy soil and compacted soil, it does not work for that type of heavy duty weeding. But the tool is great for what it is intended, i.e. removing weeds without bending, as along as the soil condition is as above.
