It picks up following the events of Wingard’s 2021 film “Godzilla vs. Kong” in which Kong relocated to Hollow Earth while Godzilla patrols the surface world fending off various Titans. A signal begins emanating from Hollow Earth that leads Monarch scientist Dr. Ilene Andrews (Rebecca Hall) to seek out Bernie Hayes for his input (Brian Tyree Henry). Along with Trapper (Dan Stevens) and Jia (Kaylee Hottle), they travel to Kong’s realm to investigate. There, they find the Iwi, a group similar to Jia’s people from Skull Island who have knowledge of a dangerous Titan named Skar King. Kong faces off against Skar King, but barely survives. A juvenile ape, Suko, helps Kong to navigate that world. Meanwhile, Godzilla fights off Tiamat and begins accumulating new power to fortify himself. The Monarch group must help Kong to recruit Godzilla in order to fight Skar King and Shimo, a beast that has radioactive ice breath and previously caused an ice age fighting members of Godzilla’s species. The only way to make peace between Godzilla and Kong is for Jia to help summon Mothra as only a person from Skull Island can connect with Mothra. All of this culminates in a big monster battle between Skar King’s loyal apes and the Godzilla and Kong alliance. The film is fun for fans of the Monsterverse and spends a great deal of time exploring Hollow Earth and Kong’s perspective. Wingard does an admirable job dramatizing scenes of the various Titans without any dialogue, but still creating a visual narrative where the audience can understand each creature’s motivations. Each film in the Monsterverse has a distinctive color palette and “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” is no different. With each Titan glowing during their power-ups and Wingard using particularly vibrant colors for Hollow Earth, the film pops and visually draws the viewer into the story. The neon aesthetic and font for the film’s logo resembles the ’80s references found in so many current film properties like “Thor: Love and Thunder,” “Stranger Things, “Ready Player One,” and more. Where Toho’s current Godzilla films – “Shin Godzilla” and “Godzilla Minus One” – have more of a grounded feel despite the presence of kaiju, the Monsterverse has embraced a heightened or fantastical tone beginning with its second film. The color saturation that cinematographer Ben Seresin uses helps to further differentiate Toho and Legendary’s Godzilla franchises. Bonus features on this Blu-ray include commentaries, vignettes looking into the various Titans, and behind-the-scenes featurettes. Fans of this series will enjoy further exploring the world of the Monsterverse. Review: Great movie - Love the new Godzilla movies had to add it to my collection

Pretty cool and fun
I do Movie Night with the neighbors as they have a home theater setup. I bring the movies and he chooses what he wants to see. Being I am a movie buff of many genres, his movie options now have been greatly enhanced. He isn't much of a monster fan but I brought Skull Island one time. He really liked it. Then I brought Godzilla vs Kong and he really liked that one. Now this one was another big hit, we both loved it. It was a fun movie with lots of action and incredible scenery. And seeing it on a bigger screen, his is about 8 ft x 12 ft is amazing. It is amazing what they can do to make it seem so real, and it seems very real. Not like the old original 1933 King Kong(which we also have seen before this one) and even that was amazing for it's time. I, no, we can't wait for the next installment and who knows, by then my neighbor may get into the Godzilla(minus King Kong) movies also.

BETTER THAN PEOPLE SAID IT WAS!!!!
The promos for this movie really didn't do it justice. I was given the impression that they were going to make these characters just entirely too human... like in the old Godzilla movies.... but they didn't do that which was a relief. I'm a big Zilla & Kong fan so I was excited to finally get this on my big screen and in my collection. 😁 I had a blast watching it with a belly full of pizza... THAT'S THE BEST!! 🍕🤤 📺.. CONS If I had to give any cons about this, it would be a bit more on the philosophical side rather than anything material. Therefore these cons would pertain to the whole "Legendary" monster movie series, and it primarily pertains to "Kong". Basically, they've made him a bit too weak & needy lol. Zilla can basically THRASH Kong any time he wants and I'm OK with that for the most part. Zilla is just wayyy too much for almost anything out there... least of all a big gorilla with a DEFENSE RATING of nearly 0 😮💨 But they did give Kong a near GENIUS level intelligence lol.... I'm kind of even OK with that too. But even with all of Kong's massive strength that can literally knock Godzilla on his a**, the HUMANS can STILL come in, knock him unconscious with some kind of gas any time they want, chain him up and transport him around like any other freight LOL.. 😂 Humans can even sign language with him and tell him what to do... ((STOP this... DO that.. GO THERE!!)) ...and he does it! LOL.... Kong survived allll those years on Skull Island as a GOD, but now he relies on the humans to help him and keep him safe?!?!? 🙄 It REALLY feels like these "humans" think farrr too highly of themselves and GREATLY overvalue their necessity in this world and to the creatures OF this world. The fact is that almost everything that the animals need "saving" from is caused by the same ones trying to help... HUMANS!! So to make Kong SO DEPENDENT on humans in these movies seems to speak to the MASSIVE ARROGANCE that humans have developed in real life.. ((😱 OMG... THE LITTLE ANIMALS NEED MEEE!! )) And these movies reflect that. But in reality... NO, THEY DO NOT NEED HUMANS - AT ALL!! Yeah, humans saved many animals who WERE helpless here & there... cats, dogs, horses, etc... but in truth they may be WEAKENING the entire species by saving the sick & weak and allowing those weaknesses propagate. It sounds cold & heartless, but it worked for a few BILLION years and the further back you go - the LESS influence humans had on this world. The less influence humans had... the MORE POWERFUL the creatures of this world were. So NOW... as of today, suddenly NOTHING can survive without humans running to the rescue! 🙄 It might sound like I'm way off track here, but if you've been watching the series and then watch this one - you'll see the connection & understand the message and where these movies go wrong. That's why the Japanese monster movies are BELOVED CULT CLASSICS!!! Because they CORRECTLY show that NOTHING needs humans! The creatures of this world could actually rise up and wipe out humans ANY TIME THEY WANT. The Japanese versions show Zilla rise up... do his thing, while the humans can only stand back and watch in awe & terror. But Kong shows up and they're practically petting his head and sitting in his lap! LOL... 😂🤣🤣 That's a recurring problem in these Americanized movies, and that's why I took a star off!! ✌️😉
