This head is awesome! Not only is it incredibly quiet
This head is awesome! Not only is it incredibly quiet, it is also very durable. A lot of people ask, "Will it hold up under my sticks?" The answer is yes. I have had this head on my snare for over a month now, and so far, it has not shown even the slightest signs of the normal wear and tear you would get with a regular head. One thing I have trouble with, is hitting the drum about three times harder than I normally hit it, because it is so quiet. my ears tell me to hit the drum harder to get a louder sound. However, this head has held up amazingly well, through all my hard hits, this past month. The heads are very responsive, and have excellent rebound. One nice thing about these heads is that they decrease the overtones you would get with a normal head. You do not need any overtone killers on these babies. One thing you should know about these heads is that chewed up sticks will tear the heads, so I recommend using nylon-tipped sticks. These heads were meant for practice, but I have found that they also function well in a studio environment. These drum heads are an excellent product.

For silent practice or using on an electronic set
Remo Silentstroke heads are intended for silencing an acoustic set for practice with minimal sound, but they also work great on an electronic set that uses mesh heads, such as my Alesis Nitro. Plus, I can add the Remo logo to the Alesis set. Very cool indeed.

Drumhead is REALLY quiet!
I've been playing drums for over 50 years and I never thought that someone could develop a drumhead that was actually somehow quiet...but they did it!!! Yep! This drumhead is super quiet but still has the good rebound of a traditional plastic drumhead. Amazing!!! It sure makes it nice to be able to play my drums in my loft and not worry about possibly getting cited by the HOA for a noise violation. I HIGHLY recommend this drumhead for all you drummers out there who want to quiet down your drums and still have the feel of traditional drumheads!!!

Excellent for practice or low volume playing
In the 5 decades I have been playing drums these heads are one of the most innovative additions to the craft. I have used electronic drums in the past but there is a vast difference in playability, feel, and feedback when between an electronic kit and an acoustic kit. These heads combined with low volume cymbals, allow percussionists (Drummers) to take up their acoustic kit and keep their Grooves and Chops fresh with the tactical feel and feed back of regular drum heads at 10-20 percent of the volume. These heads don't tune the same as normal batter resonant heads. The resonant heads will need to be higher tension in order to vibrate easier. The batter (mesh) head will then need to be tuned for maximum drum resonance. This needs to be done is small increments (1/8 turn or less) as one can easily by pass the spot at which the head provides the most resonance and wind up with a choked sound. Start with 1/2 turn of the drum key after all the lugs first snug against the rim by hand. Afterword tighten no more than 1/8th turn at a time, listening for that sweet spot of maximum resonance. The snare head is the only problem with the mesh head approach, however that can be resolved with some fine tuning. I use these heads for daily practice, they keep me tuned up muscle as well as eye hand coordination and mental acuity related to the result of my playing ability. Since one can hear the sticks hitting the head, there is a feed back to the user where there might be weakness in ones playing approach. Get some.... Try them .... enjoy them ..... you will be amazed..... You can play your kit without disturbing the neighbors or the family..... they will love it and so will you.

Great way to reduce volume on an acoustic set.
I bought the Remo Silent Stroke / Zildjian L80 package and it had the wrong size on one of the heads for my kit so this was to replace it. Amazing how much quieter it is. Takes some time to get the feel right with tuning but worth it.

Amazing. I have always been very conscious of being ...
Amazing. I have always been very conscious of being loud and annoying to my neighbors and these have solved the problem. I have been using the Vic Firth mutes on normal heads but honestly they didn't decrease the noise that much but they did make the drums feel terrible, like hitting a door mat instead of a drum head. These heads by Remo are just awesome. My only concerns/issues are 1) I wonder how long the mesh material will last and 2) The kick drum is awful quiet.. but that may be because the opposing head has a hole/port so that may be affecting the sound. Overall: These are amazing. Seriously, if you are considerate of your neighbors and/or you have kids who like to be around while you play, then these are what you want for drum heads.

Great Remo Quality
I use the Silent Stroke head on a triggered snare drum for use in a Def Leppard Tribute band as well as for home studio use with an E kit along with live cymbals. I needed to eliminate snare bleed in the live overhead mic channels so I went to a mesh head. Its lively, no doubt, but it works great if you stretch a piece of felt under the head, which makes it a little less boingy. It had virtually no impact on my triggering performance. You can pay 80 bucks for something that may be marginally better or save a bunch and grab a Silent Stroke like I did.
