Excellent item for Hospital Compression Knee Length Socks
What a marvellous item this is. I have just had a hernia operation so can’t bend about and was advised to wear these socks for 2-4 weeks. My wife was having terrible trouble getting the medical compression sock on due to arthritis in her fingers and shoulders. She would end up in terrible pain, the nurse made it look so easy getting them on ! Did a bit of research and found this item, arrived quickly and had to keep the compression socks for 2 days before it arrived. What a revelation in the ease and simplicity of use, we had my compression socks on first try in seconds, no more pain for my wife ! We got this model which has the longer handles which works very well. It is very well made and sturdy. We did contact our local nurse at our surgery who recommended a couple, on was over £100, so very glad we did our research before committing ourselves. For the money paid £25 this item is excellent value for money, so if you are having trouble getting compression socks on this item is fantastic value for money !

Very easy to use - A Game Changer!
This was expensive enough but …. it really does the job! It is very sturdy and made of metal rather than some of the other brands that are plastic with ropes or fabric attached. I found it easy to roll the compression socks on to it and pull the frame up your leg to get the whole sock up to your knee. I found because the compression socks have a very high tension, it was easier to get the socks on the frame if you sit down, put the aid on your lap with the base pressed into your stomach, you can then pull the sock onto the frame much easier. I also make sure to have the sock stretched the full length of the frame with any excess of the sock ruched up at the top of the stocking - this means when you are putting the compression sock you don’t have any wrinkles in it which are very hard to get rid of by hand once on. Once the sock was on the frame, I got my first sock on in under 10 seconds - I’d never had done that without the aid! It’s been a game changer! I have only given it 4 stars as I needed it because I have had my hip replaced this week and am not allowed to bend down very far and even though I’m 5ft 6in I found I had to stretch down too far to grab the handles to pull it up my leg (so I have to use my grabber stick aid to hold it in place on the floor while I put my foot in it and also use the grabber to pull the frame up my leg until I can comfortably bend and grab the handle so even though the description says “Tall” it could do with being another 4-5 inches taller to suit post hip replacement users. If you have no problem with bending down the height as it is should be fine. This aid is a keeper - I’m going to hold on to it in the attic for the next time anyone in the family needs to put on compression socks!

Works well
This is actually very good and quite easy to use when I tried it, but my mum struggled a bit to get the stocking on to it. I think she would have been fine if she had tried again but she didn't like the feel of compression stockings so didn't want to keep trying. I found this was better than the slippery-slidey type aids - easier and did a better job, but it does look odd which can be off-putting for someone who already doesn't want to wear the stockings, but I do think it's good. I got my mum lower compression stockings in the end - she can put them on normally and they're better than nothing. For someone who is willing to try properly though, I would recommend this product.

Does what it says
Yes it not easy to get the sock on to the frame, but once on the frame and sorted, it is so very easy to get the sock on. I am 79 and have arthritis in my left hand which doesn't make it easy getting the sock on the frame, but once it's on correctly, to actually get the sock on the foot takes just seconds. I would definitely reccomend it to anyone

More sturdy than some others available
A very strong sturdy product. As with other reviews not easy with elderly arthritic hands. It is very difficult to load compression knee high stockings onto the frame. It was good at being able to place stocking onto my foot, but impossible to pull it up my leg.

How to REALLY use this useful applicator
This apparatus is brilliant, but here's a word of caution. Firstly, the instructions that come with it are useless. Secondly, the video that you can watch is almost useless, as the lady demonstrating it does not properly explain the very complex way in which the stocking has to be loaded. Also she is wearing dark clothing, so that neither the stocking nor the applicator shows up very well - hence you can't actually see what she's doing. In the end I had to resort to the Gemini app to learn what to do, so here's how it's done. Dangle the stocking with the toe pointing away from you and the heel facing you. Turn the top of the stocking over the loop, and slide the rest with your hands on either side as far as it will go. You should be able to see a narrow opening at the top. Now the tricky bit! Don a pair of washing up gloves and keep sliding the sides of the stocking as before until you feel resistance start to give. At this point, you should just have a bit of the toe end dangling down. Continue to slide until the heel (usually a black strip or something similar) appears in front of you. Stop there, and insert your foot into the resulting chasm, pull the applicator up and off. You can then adjust height up to the knee, and pull the toe down to smooth out the wrinkles (someone else may have to do this for you if you're recovering from leg surgery) Hope this helps

Don't bother with it
Very disappointing. First off the instructions are pretty much non existent and hard to follow. With much perseverance I could follow what was required but unless you have full and strong use of your hands it is impossible to use. I would even go as far as saying it could actually be a little dangerous as it slips and slides all over the place while you are trying to strong arm the sock on to it. It was returned for a refund.

This works
You need to practice using this but it's a sturdy frame. Following abdominal surgery this has enabled me to put on hospital compression socks without bending/too much pain. It has given me a little independence back.

Funciona
