This is one of the handiest little tools. It is definitely hardened steel and will easily mark and center punch mild steel as well as 'bite' a bit in nail heads when driven which keeps it on target and from slipping or the point from doming. It is just as easy as using a regular nail set but with added precision and the bonus that you can use it in places you can't swing a hammer.

What great tool! It was about $8 when I bought it. I was looking for a nail set to fix a bad baseboard job and some other minor household tasks. I saw this and thought it might save me a few hammer marks, so I ordered it on a whim. This thing works way better than I thought it would! Just a couple pulls on the spring has been enough to set most nails. I used some finishing nails to re-affix the front of a window seat and this things saved me tons of time getting the nails in that last 1/8". Especially useful for tight corners where a hammer would have been awkward. Can't speak too much to long term durability. I've set about 60 nails with it and it seems fine so far.

This is without a doubt one of the best tools I have EVER bought! I LOVE it! I have done trim all over my house and this thing is fabulous. I cant swing a hammer to save my life. So this and a Senco nail gun and I am ready for caulk and Spackle. I rave about this to everyone. Light and easy to carry around. Fits in my overalls front pocket & I go Nail... nail... nail... set ... set ... set... and I am done super fast & super easy. A light snap of the spring & I have a shallow set & a heavy snap & I have a deep set. Has worked up to framing nails and down to pin brads (bigger & smaller sizes require a bit more attention but its a champ!)... AND i can start screws with it too!! You will NOT regret it!!

This item is a great little tool, easier than a traditional nail setter. Does not need the hammer at all. One side makes a divot to starts a nail/screw or just mark a drill hole, the other can be used to sink pin nails or finishing nails with out needing a hammer. Just hold the one side and pull and release the other. The spring causes an impact that does just the right amount of force. Only down side is you need to hold the one side firmly so it does not hop or skip when you are using it. This is likely user error though and just getting used to the tool. No more hitting you hand with the hammer.

This is really handy driving nails in tight spots. Drives typical baseboard nail about an 1/8-1/4" of an inch per strike

Works exactly as intended, great for deep setting a nail or i used it for door hinges, no more scratching the trim

I was somewhat skeptical however after using it to sink some proud 18 guage nails that the nailer didn't fully sink... it's quick and handy to keep in the tool pouch. The spring packs a surprising amount of force. 2-3 whacks and the nail is set a solid 2mm below the surface ready for filling. Beats a hammer any day. Love the close quarters use-ability. Don't have to carry the hammer in the tool belt, less weight, happier me.

Definitely better than my hammer . This really does pack a punch! Fantastic bit of kit.
