You drill a hole, push the gromet in, and put a pipe inside. It works

These work great once I drilled the proper hole dimension. The installation was easier than I applied soapy water on the uniseal so that they would go in a little easier into the hole. The very durable and I've had no leakage so far. Would definitely buy again.

I used these in a recirculating deep water culture setup. 9 out of ten seals worked fine but one trickled a bit. I wanted to be sure of no leaks so I used construction adhesive with the seals. I would recommend this product.

Take a 1 and 3/4 in hole not a 2 inch please don't pre drill your holes based on misinformation half the seals worked half the seals leaked like a siv needed to add a flexable sealing product to stop leaks if you can find a cheap bulkhead and tube i think it may create a cleaner more professional look. Very difficult to use. Ended up having to use additional products to waterproof it. Having to redesign my whole set up to use bulkheads
