Vivobook 15 X1504VA 15.6" Full HD Laptop (Intel i5-1335U, 16GB RAM, 1TB PCIe SSD, Windows 11 Home)

Windows 11 is as intrusive as you would expect a Microsoft product to be these days, but managed to switch most of the unwanted stuff off. The 2 remaining annoyances are notifications for games offers, and edge - their browser - starting up seemingly at random. Happily this doesn't cause the new laptop to almost grind to a halt like my old machine, I am mega impressed by the speed, especially for the price. Part of this will be going for more RAM than my old machine as that was a limiting factor on what it could do. The big thing I wanted to improve was the video editing, and this new laptop has dramatically raised the bar, I even can play music and have the internet browser going at the same time as the video editing program, very pleased. Haven't really tested battery performance as replaced a desktop machine, but the ability to take the computer with me has been useful a few times. Running a 2nd, larger screen (from the old desktop machine) no issues at all, indeed has been great having 2 screens to use for some tasks., like moving files around in folders/ drives. Happy to recommend.

Great product, good value.

So far so good. This review is for the Asus Vivobook15x1504VA (silver) with i5 processor and 16gb Ram. It's well built. Internal speakers are ok but sound is better through headphones or external speakers. It's fast enough for most everyday tasks - but I had to set to High Power Plan for it to be working at max CPU instead of the 'energy efficient' setting which it installs with. It comes with Windows 11 which I didn't want (because of some of its quirky features) but nevertheless it sets up easy enough and I'm now learning to live with those quirky features. Battery life seems pretty good. The reason for only 4 stars is that the viewing angle of the screen is quite limited so as to view with best brightness and contrast and I also wish that there was the ability to increase the contrast as there seems to be only the facility to adjust the brightness. I also wish it came with a backlit keyboard but finding a laptop with this spec and at this price with such a keyboard is impossible. The keyboard itself feels nice to type on and its nice to have the separate numeric keypad. All-in-all I like it and the price was right when I bought it (and even happier that I could spread the payments over five months, interest free, through Amazon.

Update. I've reduced my review to one star as the longer I use the laptop the more I absolutely hate it. Jeepers it's pants. I'm losing faith in Amazon reviews. This device has 86% with four star or higher reviews? I find it hard to believe based on my experience with the Asus laptop. The device looks nice and boots up quickly, but it is badly let down by a very noisy fan that runs permanently when the laptop is on. I can't bear the noise. The keyboard is NOT backlit. The trackpad is noisy. The battery life is extremely poor. Overall I am not impressed with the quality and I'm seriously considering returning the item.

Actually I am really satisfied, quit handy, Good performance , Great Value, Quit happy and highly recommended, I did a lot of digging and search and happy I go with this option as for my task(study and present) seems quit handy.

Very fast system. Everything starts up and opens and shuts down so quickly. Well made case. Nice keyboard. Significantly smaller case than my last 15.5" Asus laptop. I thought I'd been sent the wrong size, but there's less rim around the screen, so the whole laptop is smaller and takes up less room when carrying. This means the keyboard is slightly smaller too, but not a problem in practise. Long battery life. Windows Updates are very efficient. Was very easy to set up from out of the box.
