Rex is based on the true life story of a young Marine Corporal named Megan Leavey (Kate Mara), whose unique discipline and bond with her military combat dog saved many lives during their deployment in Iraq. When she is assigned to clean up the K9 unit after a disciplinary hearing, Leavey identifies with a particularly aggressive dog, Rex, and is given the chance to train him. Over the course of their service, Megan and Rex completed more than 100 missions until an explosion injures them, putting their fate in jeopardy. Another Rex triumph
Surprisingly deep. This is not just a 'feel good 'dog movie,but an expressive and moving look at the effect of modern war not just on animals,but also humans. Very surprisingly good.

A little bit too OTT but worthy film
I decided to buy this and watch again as the first time I felt it was a bit too slow. I quite like films related to 'war dog heroes' and this isn't that bad. Rex is a German Shepard who is handed over to newly trained dog handler Levy (Kate Mara) who is expected to use Rex to go with the other American soldiers to track down bombs. She's naturally afraid of Rex (given his strong willed nature I'd be scared too) but the two form a bond and it's shown how dedicated Rex is when during an attack on a routine patrol Rex jumps on Levy and protects her, while wounding himself. It's based on true story yet I always feel the American's go slightly over board with the acting. I don't really notice the other unfamiliar cast members (Harry Potter's Draco Tom Felton) appears as a dog handler not quite noticeable with the army gear and cap. Rex performs well at all his duties and the film does try to be based on him, yet it does go slow sometimes. I read a book about Buster, another war dog serving in Afghanistan which is good, don't know if it is a film but there should be more films like Rex as it does show how well dogs did and even saved lives, whether it be a man or woman soldier.

This is a good film..very sad in parts ,shows the attachment in people and animals and how they form a real bond . Gripping and heartwarming good movie for any animal lover

really great film, good picture quality , sound quality, and subtitles work well. this is a region 2 dvd so be aware . the uk provider sent a email to provide the region information , i had already purchased a region free player so i had no difficulties . i really appreciate the email great customer service on their part .

Achtung, Sprache beachten !!
Dvd habe ich benutzt bestellt. Zeitlich okay, Cd ist okay, leider habe ich nicht genau geschaut und habe die DVD nun auf englisch (kein Deutsch vorhanden). Mein Sohn kann zwar mit zuschauen, versteht aber nichts. ;'D Doof.
