These Palouse Brand hard red spring wheat berries are excellent! They’re 100% non-GMO, glyphosate residue-free, and non-irradiated, which makes me feel good about using them. The quality is fantastic, and they cook up nicely for baking, salads, or grain bowls. Grown in the USA and certified kosher, they’re a top-notch choice for anyone looking for healthy whole grains.

This is my first time to try to mill my own grain for sourdough bread and this brand tastes great. This is the one they recommended for sourdough bread. When I mixed my ingredients, I decided to go with half milled grain and half all purpose flour and it worked great. I bought the bigger size since I plan to mill my grain every week. I noticed this brand mentioned in a homestead book written by Mary Jane's Farm Lifebook.

The Palouse whole wheat berries are consistently good quality. Fresh, clean and no stones or other debris in the bags. I have ordered several size bags over the years and usually order either hard white wheat or hard red wheat. I typically mill the grain and make a variety of breads--sourdough, yeast doughs and quick breads/biscuits. I will continue to purchase from Palouse.

It even gives you a scan tag to tell you where and what farm produced the berries. So far the quality from two different Palouse farms is great. Sprouts easily and is organic. My one complaint is that when the wheat berries are offered you cannot pick the amount you want. On my first order I was asked to choose the amount and I checked three one-lb. bags. The s&h is not so high. But on the second order I could only get bags in minimums of three pounds. This is inconvenient for my needs. We use it to feed our pet birds, and we don't sprout much at a time. Once the large bag is opened (it has a plastic detachable liner) I find it difficult to keep the berries from drying out. We live in FL.
