The 6 x 12 plate is perfect size for an external heat sink for the older, aluminum body MacBooks. The plate edges are still sharp, so a few minutes of quick sanding or other edge breaking is recommended before using. I added four silicon, bumper feet to make a “bottom“ for the external heat sink. By putting the MacBook on top of the plate and the plate onto a hard surface, the heat flows from the MacBook’s body into the plate, and then the air gap between the plate and the table allows more heat to escape. My old MacBook runs noticeably cooler using this set up.

They're good, reasonably priced, and can serve a purpose. But if you're looking for a precise .125" thick sheet, this is not what you want. They're advertised as .125" thick, but that's if you include the protective plastic layering on both sides of the sheet. The actual thickness of the aluminum sheet is .117", which made it difficult for me to fabricate a project I was working on, which required better structural integrity. It's too thin.

Thickness was .500 inch, length and width are on the plus side. Straight saw cuts on all edges. Protective film is on both sides, with not a single scratch.

I just wanted to say that this is one time when the description says 8x12 inches, and it actually is a full 8x12 inches. Mine was actually a little over in both dimensions, which worked out great for my application. Thank you for the quality product.
