Deluxe Hand Crank DC Generator with High/Low Output Switch - Perfect for STEM Experiments Requiring up to 15V DC Current

This little hand generator is perfect to demonstrate the production of electrical power and the effort required.It is very robust--not toy-like--particularly given the price.Be certain to check the setting of the "low/hi" output switch before thinking it defective. Mine came set on "low" and a it took me a touch of study to figure out the problem.A multimeter verified the claimed output voltage; actual current (amperage) is quite low. I did not measure but I suspect less than 1/2 ampere as while it can reasonably light an incandescent lamp of the sort used in automotive gauges, it can barely get a glow out of one intended for use as an overhead dome light.Low current output is intended for operating electronics experiments that require very little power.

This did what it claimed, but I have had it fail a few times. The wires are pretty flimsy, and seem to have a shot.

My son loves this. Great way to explore and learn electricity. Fun to attach to a motor and see how cranking different directions is reflected in the motor. The high/low output switch is a really nice feature.(Even though it’s for kids, I wish the handles were slightly bigger for when I want to play!)

Figured it would crank out way more than it actually did

As opposed to other hand held generators, this one is well made and sturdy. I used it in class today and the students did not damage it through repeated uses. I cannot comment on how long it will last because we have used it only one day. However, it seems to be constructed well. The price is a few dollars more than I would like, but less expensive ones I have purchased just do not last withdtudents.

This was a piece of junk and did not work! I wish I could give 0 stars.
