I was sick of my old deck where the guy that built my house used PT decking, pt rails with horizontal copper pipe for balusters. It looked OK until it didn't. I tried painting the deck since he never sealed or stained it but it was too late. So after a bunch of research I liked the look of the black vertical balusters with pt wood. It keeps with the natural looking esthetic of my deck with out all the plastic railings. The product is good but I recommend taking your time laying it out. My railing sections were different sizes so each railing had to be laid out differently. There's a online calculator on decksdotcom to help with measurements and layout. Big help! I drilled small pilot screw holes for each baluster end cap. Had my helper feed me caps with the screw already inserted. Holding the screw against the drill gun I pressed in to the pre- drilled hole and drove it in. I had my drill clutch set at 5. The only hard part was installing top rail and lining up the balusters. Ive seen some people building them flat and attaching all in one section but I did the 2 person approach. I installed my bottom rail, placed all the balusters on the end caps, then installed the top rail at an angle. My tolerances were very tight so the top rails would stay at an angle until I fist hammered them down. Starting at the lowest side of railing I had my helper (wife or daughter) line the balusters up staying 2 ahead as I tapped down the other end of the rail flat. Once all balusters were secured, I could plum my railings. They do spin a little and the company recommends a touch of clear glue to prevent this. Next came my stairs. Well, I didnt have angled end caps so I reached out to the company to see if the sell them. They responded immediately and my angled balusters were in the mail in few days. I really recommend them as they really make the railings look clean. If you're good with a tape measure, take your time with layout and have a helper - it's an easy project. No more crooked or warped wooden balusters that never last. For me, replacing copper pipe horizontal balusters- no more Verde green balusters that were definitely not meeting code (spacing and climbing). (Last picture is of old stairs with copper horizontal rails.). I guess you could install these horizontally but many codes say no due to kids being able to climb - plus they're aluminum- so they'd definitely bend and break if someone stepped on them).

These worked out great for our pool deck. Easy install and nice quality. Looks much better than standard wooden spindles.

Looks great and made my screened in porch look more classy. I was a bit frustrating to install at first, but once I got my technique for install down things were much better. The best thing I did in this process was to make a jig. I took a piece on 1x2 pine and drilled holes that were slightly smaller than the width of the plastic pieces. I set mine 3.5” apart to stay with code in my area. Make sure you mark the left and right sides of the jig and be consistent with placement to avoid crooked poles. The 3-4 inches will keep small children from sticking their heads through the bars, or in my case keep my German Shepard puppy from jumping through the screens when she sees a squirrel. Yes, functional and fancy renovation. For new construction, use the ratchet strap technique. Setup will go so fast. For me it was a renovation, with the top board already installed. I first tried to tape the poles to the top and lining up the bottom. Worked, but took lots of patience and retrying. I settled on using 2x4s and other scraps to provide some closeness in height. At about 70 degree tilt and the right height I could have the front end of the pole tops touch the plastic and the backs to a 1/16” on open air. With the angle being right I could often times just remove the spacers on the bottom while pushing up on the bottom board. Another thing I did was I wedged the pole up once I was at the right angle. Gave it a little turn to stay put, and pushed up on the lower board and removed my spacers of 2x4s below. I did this renovation solo, but help would make a big difference on time. Hope this helps.

For the price these are great. We're using them inside for a loft. They look nice my only complaint is they are pretty thin. I'd imagine a solid hit and they would just bend. We dropped a couple from about 6ft and they dented bad enough we couldn't use them. I wouldn't use them outside on a deck but something like a loft or an area with not much traffic or kids these are great for the price.

They look great and this style is easy to assemble and make a solid railing. I used the railing mounts with these and that helps for mounting .

Great kit! I ended up getting two kits for my deck. Kit comes with everything, definitely saving money as the rods are 2-4 dollars each and the caps are around 1 dollar each in my area. The rods are slightly loose on the caps, but I prefer it for ease of installation. The rods themselves are fairly durable aswell and held up when my 3 year old was using them as drum sticks while I was building the railing. Highly recommend.
