Good Value but follow the review directions
While I noticed some negative reviews about the quality of the product, I stuck with the most detailed review here and just lived with the fact that there are no formal assembly instructions included. I'm a big boy and there are only 3 electrical components besides the transformer and switches. That said, following just the pictures and advice on scraping the laminate on the wires off, I was able to assemble the first and second unit so far successfully, with the second unit getting a 3D printed wax potting chamber (film canister basically) to sit in. I noticed less heat dissipation which should enable longer run times, though the transistor itself will likely need to be fan cooled for duration. I got this to use for ignition coils for an RC jet arduino project, it looks like these will emit less EMI than a full sized flyback yet still meet the arc gap needs for a spark plug type setup rather than a glow plug. Pretty neat for $2 a piece ($10 for 5x), not gonna lie.

Worksโฆ but itโs not a toy. Use common sense!
Easy to assemble (for me, at least), HV coil is a little tricky (donโt forget to scrape the varnish insulation off 4 HV coil wires GENTLY or it wonโt work, DONโT allow thick and thin wires to cross except at solder joint), otherwise it works as designed, low part count, user serviceable. Long term use will melt the green wire and encasing the HV coil in resin would probably be a good idea to prevent short circuiting. Common sense and some electric/electronics background required! Be careful where you stick your fingers or you could get zapped (Darwinโs Law disclaimer) This is step 1 to creating lightning in your basement. Step 2 is Diode HV multiplication boards, proceed with caution, DO YOUR RESEARCH!

Doesnโt work. No instructions in the baggies of parts
Crap. Waste of money. I followed the images posted by the reviewer whose device worked since there are no instructions in the baggies of parts whatsoever. Even after verifying and rereading the instructions from the one person I see got theirs to work, including scraping the resin from the copper wires below the PCB deck before soldering, the devices still donโt do anything at all. Iโve checked the soldering and the connections are all tight, no wobble.

Very good value for unique component
I've built several of these flyback transformer power supplies, and have only destroyed a few due to pushing them too far. So I got this 5 pack to always have spares. If you respect their current and input voltage limits they last a long time.

Could not get them to work
So far I assembled 2 of the 5 and neither of them work. Yes, I scraped off the varnish from the copper coils, but still nothing. On both units, the switch died immediately after soldering it in, I guess you need to run a very low heat soldering iron? It's hard to tell when they don't give you any instructions

Fun to play with.
Got to guess on polarity of wires when soldering transformer. Reverse them if it does not work.

Cheap kit
It's cheap. Good if you don't mind assembly time. Had it running in 30minutes. Decent sparks. Add a voltage multiplier circuit for High Voltage DC

Good quality
Circuit and parts are of good quality should work well
