My 9 yr old grandson can make waffles for the family. Only the handle is cool to the touch. It's all metal, so it gets hot!! But he used it just fine.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Plates do not get hot enough to make golden waffles. Plates do not heat evenly. Even on the highest setting, it took 10 mins to make one set of undercooked waffles. Unfortunately we make waffles once a month and decided to give it two attempts so by the time we attempted waffles the second time we were outside of the return window. Very disappointed to spend $59.99 and now we will be throwing away this waffle maker so that we don't pass the same frustrations on to another hopeful soul at a 2nd hand store. I do NOT recommend purchasing this product.

My children are fascinated and I'm more because they are 4 in one, I finish making breakfast early, and they cook super fast and they are not raw and what I like the most is that I don't put any fat
