What a very special rice blend!! If you love rice, you should try this! I used a 2:1 water to rice ratio to make it, and served it with sliced scallions, seaweed flakes, shoyu and chili crisp for a Japanese-style breakfast. So satisfying!

This looks expensive but you only use about a tablespoon along with your regular amount of plain rice so it lasts forever, and it gives regular rice this amazing flavor. Totally worth it.

This is a beautiful heritage rice blend that surprised me with how soft it was. I thought it would perhaps be more chewy like a wild or brown rice, especially since I forgot to soak it first. But it was surprisingly soft and sticky without being mushy. I cooked it the night before and used it in the morning as part of a breakfast buddha bowl, it was perfection. It added just the right amount of starch, texture, and mellow flavor. I actually only cooked a half cup of the rice and barely used a third of that with my bowl because it really made a lot more than I expected. I think if you mix it with regular white or brown rice you could really stretch it out. But I kind of like it the way it is and would rather use it sparingly. In this case it made a great accompaniment and I will probably use it over the next few days in my salads. Perhaps if I make it as a side dish for a family meal I will break down and mix in another less expensive rice, but for now I'm treating this like the unique and special delicacy that it is and preparing it on its own.
