Save yourself some money
During my annual HVAC tune up, the repair guy said I should install a drain sensor. Quoted me $150. I bought his item for less than $10 and with just 2 wires to connect took me about five minutes. Do it yourself and SAVE

It works and can prevent water overflow
It is an air conditioning float switch to cut off the HVAC in case of a drain overflow. However, is was advertised as "universal". It is not. It will only fit a metal pan. It will not fit a plastic pan.

Works fine
Replaced the overflow switch on an older condensate pump where the float had gone bad. Saved having to buy a whole new pump. No parts available for 50 year old pump.
